SUNDAY AVIATORS

I have really been enjoying these last couple of weekends in my late winter hibernating day. This weekend the Professor was here and we had a nice time relaxing, watching old movies and enjoying some of the big dinners I've been cooking. This morning we awoke to another snow fall, and the Professor was amazed at all the activity from my usual suspects......

One of my favorite feathered suspects to show up is the Nuthatch, with it's unusual little warble sound. When the screen is open , he will even stay on the sill while I spread the seed. I can always tell when he show up.....

The titmice showed up...always a favorite. Love that little tuft they have...

Soon to make way for Bonnie and Clyde and gang......

a beautiful cardinal......

and then the Mistress thought she had to many Bloody Marys with breakfast......

Grabbing my other camera, which is better, I zoomed in......

Yes, right there before my eyes was a robin.  In winter.  In the snow.
So I guess that must mean spring is coming, right?  Cause after all, robins are a sign of spring, right?

I love Sunday mornings.

  1. the first grapefruit league baseball game was played today in FL; we lost; how deja vu!

scramble my eggs please, lose the potatoes and the sausage, bring on the BACON, and pour a mimosa (or 3) for my breakfast!

  2. We're having rain until Tuesday, and I was under a flood watch earlier today. Still, no birds around the Lair. I'm sure my kitties sitting on the window sills have something to do with that.

  4. We seldom get robins in Ann Arbor till late spring. Our bird of impending Spring is the Cedar Waxwing. Not to say we don’t get walloped with a cold front after they appear, but spring is not long off when they do come our way.

  5. Robins arrive here in January -but not this year! They just showed up mid-Feb.
(Don't let the birds see your eggs for breakfast!)

  6. Loved seeing the Nuthatch, I don't remember having seeing one. At least seeing the Robin reminded me of warmer weather and springtime thoughts. sigh ...........

  7. Why didn't you call me for breakfast, I love a big country breakfast!!!! Love the bird shots as always, especially the Robin. Made me think of spring even though we still have a foot of snow on the ground.

  8. You're feathered friends must love you and all the goodies you leave out for them. Always love your pictures especially the robin. One good thing about winter is snuggling up with someone. Does Buster ever scare your little visitors away?

    1. He does see them, but being a gentle soul doesn't bother them. He's on the small side so he can't get to the window, except for when on the side sofa, where he often naps and just watches them.

    1. If one is present alot, the nuthatch can actually become tame to one presence. He is one of the few one doesn't fly away when I am out putting seed down.

  11. We have robins almost all winter. We know its spring when there aren’t so many of them. We listen for the sandhill cranes to tell us when warm weather is coming, since they migrate over our house. Very nice post.

  13. You have to share your secret with how your getting all these birds, we only seem to get sparrows and that's it. I'm surprised with the Professor there you had time to bird watch.

  23. What patience it must've taken to capture so many beautiful bird photographs. I really enjoy reading this, Mistress. It's nice also to know that you not only like boys but birds too.
