...with some weekend left! It's been a relaxing weekend what with some busy weeks with the new showroom. Spring was on the way but then got derailed back with some cooler weather again...not to mention our family friend Garnet had a surprise birthday lunch and desserts for the Mother, who celebrated around trip around the globe. And she hates surprises. The day started with me taking her for breakfast. Needless to say, I'm guessing she slept good last night after her libations all day. The garden crocus exploded but will last for how long is anyone's guess with the cooler weather is again. It's always the first sign of spring in my book. I did however get outside today for a nice little cleanup of leaves and felled branches...and see a few signs of spring. And some of the usual suspects.

Crocuses and pussy willows are forever harbingers of spring to me! I have the same bunny covered dish as you, Maddie, but mine is light blue milk glass. It makes a great little butter dish too!
ReplyDeleteI was getting some of my Easter finery out this weekend. The lawn is current polluted with crocus...and happy to report some signs of life in the garden under the leaves.
DeleteHappy hour is whenever you make it. I love the purple flowers. So cheerful.
ReplyDeleteCrocuses are happy little flowers. They always make me happy when they first appear.
DeleteAfter seeing your photos, it’s happy here no matter what the hour. Happy birthday to your dear mother and thank her for producing you! I hope she ended up enjoying the surprise.
ReplyDeleteShe did! After all it's not like half the county was there. She hates to be the center of attention with big parties. Otherwise, her friend Garnet and I would have been injured. And the breakfast earlier with just us was delicious!
DeleteShe hates to be the center of attention. I wonder, did you inherit that characteristic? A shrinking violet. So glad she had a good time.
DeleteThose crocuses are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnd they keep coming Debs!
DeleteAs you are 3 hrs ahead of me, I'm sure you're well into enjoying your Happy Hour, as will I in 90 minutes. An Amelia Earhart cocktail waiting to reward me for getting the lawn mowed between rain showers and some leaf clean-up in the back yard. The Juncos were not pleased I was working in the vicinity of their feeders. It's been a good day, Sunday is also ANNE Day(Absolutely NO News Ever)
ReplyDelete(Some of those tri-colored croci in your collection look almost other-worldly)
Cheers Milleson!!!!!!
DeleteNo lawn mowing here, at least for another month yet, but the bulbs and such are starting to break ground. And I have ANNE Days too, well more like Absolutely NO News Weekends.
when I saw the crocus I almost teared up; they were the first signs of spring, often coming up through snow banks. I love them so.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the spring days.
ReplyDeleteFour things- 1, Happy Birthday to your Mother!!!! 2, what a gorgeous house, 3, Spring...get here and 4, what a big pecker you have.
ReplyDeleteLeave it to you to notice my big pecker.
DeleteLuv the pix.
ReplyDeleteSpring has sprung early here in Southern California at 80° :)
Most of us Californians could never survive the severe winters back East. :\
Years ago I got a taste of winter in New Jersey when visiting my grandfather, one Northeast winter was enough for me. I would only visit him in Spring or Fall.

The far up Northeast usually gets hit harder with the Winters. Our Winters in Pennsylvania are much more mild compared to other eastern states. Of course they changed drastically since I've been little. We used to have legendary snows back when I was in grade school. The greenhouse effect has changed all that.
DeleteBirthday Felicitations to your mum! First signs of Spring? Crocus, birdsong, and bumblebees.
ReplyDeleteSx
I haven't seen any bumblebees yet a bit too early for us. But I look forward to their return.
DeleteAh! Indeed, the crocus hath poke us!
ReplyDeletePure Joy !
ReplyDeleteSmall but mighty flowers they be.
ReplyDeleteJoyful little flowers, indeed. Ours have all gone. Enjoy them while they last! Jx
ReplyDeleteI fear that won't be around long, we're getting ready to have another cold snap, well at least down into the 50s.
