BRIAR

Briar Blush is one of Boston's premier drag queens. I've had the pleasure to meet her several times for different drag shows, and I'm here to tell you this queen is celebrated for her enchanting mix of retro and modern, becoming the it-girl of any time or place. A must see if you get to Boston. As a fixture in Beantown's still vibrant LGBTQ nightlife, she is regularly performing at the iconic venues and lounges, while also up and down the Northeast coast. What I like most is her equal parts conceptual artist and local club kid and street clown. And girl is proud of her Latina heritage, where she blends humor, art, fashion and a passion for drag that's curated to be unlike other drag artist. Yes, while the girls of RuPaul's Drag Race are too high polished, it's the like of queens like Briar that keep me coming back to drag. Briar is one of those queens who uses the philosophy the queens of the 80 and 90's had....spur of the moment drag and using what resources one had. Briar proves a huge gold mine of a budget is not required to look flawless and stunning...and shows the importance that a great act will do. Further down you'll see her creation and a clip from one of her shows I caught once. It's wild to think that a bit of party tinsel and classic drag turned it OUT. Another of the pictures is a creation she made of lottery scratch off tickets. Of course, Briar also spreads unsolicited life advice, be kinda shady and leave an undeniable impression.
Just look at that tinsel shimmy girls!!!!!

MOOD BOARD

Happy Monday indeed!!!! A nice relaxing weekend...and much needed after the holidays. The Ann Arbor cousins have left and Warbucks departed Friday. I adore him, but with his nipples fascination, I don't think mine could have taken much more! I finally got some sleep and wouldn't mind sleeping in more today...but work beckons. No taking down the decorations yet, maybe later in the week. The tree looks so pretty, I didn't have the heart to take it down yet. I can't lie, it nice to have the house back to normal. I wonder if it's safe to hibernate yet??? It's supposed to be a bitterly cold winter here in the Northeast anyhow.

And we are getting some snow finally! Currently outside the back door at 5:30am...

The VIVIENNE

Sad new in the world of Drag. The Vivienne, who won huge fan affection for stunning style, sky high wigs, addictive personality and extremely funny comedic prowess, and owning of the runway passed away at the age of 32, yesterday. I adored Vivienne. Not only was she on the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK and won the title when it branched off into other countries, she also placed very high on the Drag Race All Stars version as well. Vivenne gained even further fans over her courted paise for mocking US President Donald Trump during the infamous Snatch Game and nailed it. Since then, the Vivienne went of to be featured in design house runway shows, a long run as the Wicked Witch of the West in London's musical tour of the Wizard of Oz and was currently playing the Childcatcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Not often such a stunning queen has such perfect comedic timing. What a joy she was. May the Vivienne rule the stage up in Fabulon.

HILARITY OF KATHY BURKE

I'm not sure how many Americana are familiar with the very funny, and the hilarity of comedian Kathy Burke. My first experience with her was of course on Absolutely Fabulous, who played Patsy's fast-talking, power lunching, Cockney-accented magazine editor Magda. Here she is as Magda along with two of her other clips from shows, that get me howling with laughter every time.

From Psychobitches....

From Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie...

I know just how Linda La Hughes feels. I had mornings like that the day after some of my South American boys have visited.
