THE LIBRARY IS OPEN

It's Read and Tea.......

Tea is getting in a smart crack, on a flaw you found in someone, and then exaggerating it, and everyone laughs and kiks-kiks's. That is the true art form of insults and reading came first.
But shade....Buster and Sophie don't need to tell the current administration they are butt-faced ugly, ignorant, bigoted cretins.

Because they already KNOW they are butt faced, ugly, ignorant, bigoted cretins, and THAT is shade.

MEANWHILE....

...on a drizzly day at the Casa du Borghese, even overcast the Magnolia adds some beauty.

Beyond the doors and caught on spycam...

As you can see, Buster Bolfig is busy "guarding" the wine. While by the looks of Sophie Lucille, she must have just read Debs's latest post about crocs.
More likely how to get them and chew the hell out of them.

THE VISTORS

With a good friend of mine out of town and couldn't find a pet sitter I told him to bring Hans and Franz to the Casa du Borghese for the week.

Meanwhile....

USUAL SUSPECTS

We finally had out first snowfall of the season, not a lot, but enough to make it pretty for about half a day this week. I always find it interesting that when we get rain or snow, how much flurry of bird activity the back gardens and the woods edge in the park gets. Of course, most of our snow is now gone already. Over the last two weeks, it's interesting to see the array of birds that come and go. We also had a new visitor, one I have never seen in these parts, or dare even say saw when I lived in Bucks County at the first Casa du Borghese. Whatever it was, it sure was pretty. Here are some of the fine feathered ones that have visited lately the last two weeks here at the Casa....

The said mystery guest?

I love Nuthatches, and hearing their cackling sounds.
I had no idea grosbeaks even ate suet?
Not birds.
And even though nesting...not a bird either.

AUTUMN LEAVES

Tender Vittles loves the autumn sun....and leaves. Forget raking. If there is a pile, he runs through the pile or lounges in it. But how can one begrudge Buster his fun?

NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT

Well...it looks as if Buster Bolfig Borghese is well on his way to turning 18 in November. Buster had his Vet appointment the other day, and the vet was simply amazed at his health, no lumps or bumps, clear lungs, muscles and joints in good condition with very little arthritis, no stomach issues, only lost a pound, and no loss of appetite or sign of cataracts. She is amazed, as we all are. About the only thing he didn't like was when he got a small finger up the backside. He got a bit cranky about that stunt.

Though he does like his naps.

He looks rather pleased of his clean bill of health. Of course, some incoming bacon might have had something to do with that. Our search for a second canine ended. As my uncle has not moved south yet to Ashville because of Helene, we have officially taken ownership of my aunt and uncles dog Sophie! In his retirement community where he will be living, dogs are allowed only if the owner can get them out and walk them regularly. At 92, he, health wise is fine, but he does walk with a cane, and has been known for some falls, so he opted to not take Sophie south with him and was adamant we take her to the Casa du Borghese. Sooooo this week we officially welcomed Sophie home with us!!!!

She has settled in very nicely at the house, but not like she doesn't already know us.

It's finally Friday!
And Im in the mood for some Jungle! Boy this group just gives me chills.

FLORALS? FOR SPRING?

We sure can't complain about the weather this weekend. It's been downright beautiful, sunny and comfortable. Being away the last couple of weekends, I did have some tending to do in the garden. There was a bit of shopping, a market trip for dinner being grilled later tonight for my uncle who's coming to dinner, and just taking in the garden. It's been a flurry of bird activity that weekend...and the garden is continuing to take off. I was a bit worried at first about the Cassia and Datura Ballerina's at first, what with so much rain, but now the warmer, not as wet weather is doing them just fine. Even the coneflower and dahlia are way more grown then normal for this time of year. The coneflower even has buds already. And the wildflower garden I seeded looks like a huge weed bed right now. The lawn guy almost mowed it over, but luckily, we caught him just in time. Blooms abound. The only thing up and bloomed already in it is the borage. And of all earthly delights the blueberries are in!!! They've been great in granola, over vanilla ice cream and muffin, not to mention just popping them in my mouth. Here's some snaps from the weekend.

Baby fledglings are all over the yard. Here's a baby robin in the lilac outside my boudoir window.

Delish!!! The bush is yielding many berries. I have to keep it covered with net. The thrasher, robins and catbirds are avid berry eaters.

Cassia, one of three plantings.

Catbird. I love their song.

Since my clovers went outside, they have double in size.

Columbine

The Fushia so far has been putting on a show and hasn't stopped. Once our hot weather gets here it will make or break it. We generally haven't had many survive after mid-July.

New to the garden this year. Jacob's Ladder
Nuthatch

Roses...love this new color.

This bed has many roses, sages and lavenders. Smells heavenly.

Coming to get their nuts!

To the dismay of the squirrel patrol.

Sweet William

Yellow columbine

This rose has a magnificent scent.
Borage

Most days I still have no idea what in hell I'm doing or if I'm even planting anything correctly, except for the type of lighting and sun it needs. My mother says I have my grandmother's green thumb. But don't ask me to grow indoor plants. I am pleased so far with the results. Now on to getting the fish prepared for dinner. How's your gardening growing?
