    1. Over the last 40 years or so I've read it no less than EIGHT times. Not an easy read - with so many 'lists' and litanies which, IMO, can make it needlessly almost 'stodgy' whilst seeking out the reflective, philosophical gems..

    I am not a fan either but Vaughan Williams used some of his poems in 'A Sea Symphony', a choral work written in 1909
    I adore this piece of music and the way it uses Walt Whitman's words
