Sad. Had the great good fortune to see her in the previews of Private Lives in Los Angeles before they took it to New York - this was about 50 years ago. One of my mother's boondoggles after the symphony ("Let's just see if they have any tickets").

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites too Savyy. Evil Under the Sun was always my favorite Agatha Christie story. My favorite quote from the movie was when Daphne saw Arlene and her husband come in and he starts to introduce them, and Daphne explains they already know each other.

She was a class act. I'm very glad she sustained that awesome career like she did. From "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" in 1969 all the way through the last "Downton Abbey" film. Though I'm sure she'll always be remembered best for Harry Potter.
