The one thing about getting ready to leave on vacation is trying to get everything in order before leaving, so it is nice to have some extra days getting the garden in order before leaving. I know once back, it will need some TLC. What must be like a never-ending wave of roses this summer keeps coming, thanks to all the dead heading. This has been a great year for roses in the garden. Probably te first year I didn't lose any bushes over the winter. Over the last week or two, the garden not only bring the hummingbirds, but I noticed we had more butterflies then normal. That has to be a good sign. Some years I don't notice as many. It could be in thanks to I have planted more flowering plants and the ones existing are more mature. All I know it's great to have a sit some days and enjoy the fruits of labor.
Quel jardin beau et enchanteur vous avez Maîtresse :)
ReplyDeleteC'est magnifique.

Merci mon ami !
DeletePink roses remind me of the girlfriend I should've married. I used to get her a dozen every 7-10 days depending on how long the prior dozen lasted.
ReplyDeleteBoy because of these tariffs, a dozen roses now is almost through the roof!!
DeleteIt's amazing how such a delicate looking flower can be so hardy! I have yet to kill a rosebush. I just realized that I haven't seen a butterfly around here in quite some time. Flies either, thank goodness. The bees seem to be gone this year, also. Well, that's beside the point. Your pictures are gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeleteYour comment wouldn't surprise me Deedles. California is one of the states that uses tons of pesticides. Which are good to kill off the pests but they're also endangering the bee, butterfly, lightning bug and moth populations.
DeleteWhy if you lived next door to me I'd have you over my garden we would sit and Kiki.
Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a feast for the eyes you have provided us with while you're away, Dear! Absolutely lovely! It really has made my day to see such beauty before starting the day "for reals" (ie leaving the house with pants on.)
ReplyDeleteThe flowers, and butterflies, are stunning!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking!
ReplyDeleteHow does your garden grow? Stunningly!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, sweetpea! Enjoy your time away! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful vacation!! What a beautiful garden! But now all I can hear is “I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, there’s gotta be a little rain sometime”……
ReplyDeleteI used to love that song on the easy listening station when I was little JM! I just got into Philly to meet Warbucks and we fly out tomorrow.
DeleteYour roses are absolutely beautiful this year! And I'm impressed with your butterfly photos too. But you know you've ruined me, Maddie, as I will forever think of cocktails as cock-a-tails, LOL! Enjoy your holiday and write if you find work, eh?!
ReplyDeleteYour Flower/Rose Garden is so beautiful. Have a great Vacay my Friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm always jealous when I see how magnificent your gardens are. This year I was excited to get morning glories to grow up our stair railings and light poles. It is the little things that bring us joy (at least in the garden.)
ReplyDeleteI agree David. I have tried, of all things, Morning Glories to grow and can't!!!! Figure that one out. And I just plant, I have no clue what should go where, but everything seems happy. Thanks for stopping in!
DeleteAs your quite aware, I LOVE roses and have many...so I will say you have a great selection. I can almost smell them.
