MOOD BOARD

Now today, mind you would be a great example of a good Monday to stay in bed. It's cool, and right now overcast...a big change from the last two weeks of glorious weather, but we could use the rain, I think. Another good weekend whizzed by. I spent the time cooking, harvesting many flowers before they go brown on the stem, and enjoyed din-din last night with the capital street duo at a brewery. And as is tradition, I got a bit calm and melancholic for the end of summer. As the Autumnal Equinox will roll in at precisely 2:19 pm here. I have noticed trees dropping leaves already, and minor changes started a week ago as summer aged on...and being a summer person, I will miss it but will enjoy what is always an amazing new season here in the East. I still have a busy calendar though...a couple day trips planned, another birthday Rehoboth Beach trip ( could this be a new tradition?), Halloween, and one last jaunt at the Woods. Then maybe I can plan on hibernating, lol. but do bring on the comforting colors and foods by all means!!!

Happy Monday dears!!!

  2. The middle piece of shrubbery, in the top pic, looks as though Dracula (in bat format) crashed into it.

  3. A lovely mood dear as always dear! The man slacking in the chair, the meat is all his? My goodness! I find the thought intimidating! Of course, my favorite among many comes down to the prettiest nature one with the mossy little pavilion. Truly a picture perfect! I wish I could climb in to explore.

    1. You sound like me Melanie. That was one of my favorite pictures too, makes me want to get in there and explore it. Of course so does the guy slung back in that chair. And that could take several hours.

    J’adore, J’adore, J’adore !

  9. The morns are meeker than they were
    The nuts are getting brown
    The berry's cheek is plumper
The Rose is out of town.

The Maple wears a gayer scarf
    The field a scarlet gown
Lest I should be old fashioned
    I'll put a trinket on!

    I'm with Emily... Jx

The fabulous, the irrepressible, the flamboyant Miss Carmen Miranda. I doubt there's a gay man over the age of 50 who doesn't recognize the diminutive Brazilian export. This Gif is from the movie "That Night in Rio" but be sure and watch her strut her stuff in sky-high platform shoes in "The Gang's All Here," the Busby Berkeley 1943 extravaganza that features the song "The Lady in the Tutti-Frutti Hat." You'll be rolling on the floor with all the phallic imagery.
I simply adore this woman who was wickedly naughty and often went pantyless on movie sets. Notorious for showing up commando, the cameramen learned quickly how to film her antics without showing her "South American Way." One photoshoot with Caesar Romero was a Hollywood scandal for revealing more of the star than was permissible at the time.

    1. I ADORE CARMEN!!!!! I have seen most of her movies....and in most , for me anyhow, she was more memorable and would steal the show more than the top billed stars themselves!!!!! Years ago, I did an over-the-top Carmen Miranda one Halloween. The head piece was huge and weighted in at 8 lbs!

  14. I LOVE those two interiors! Great inspiration for me when it comes to rooms. And that man and his penis??? I think I would be bedridden for five months! But the matador?!?!?!? YUM.

  15. Love the Alphonzo Mucha illustration. I think there may be two of them, but I only can see his signature on one.

  17. I'll take all three of the men in that first room! That would make for a excellent Monday.

  18. I want to be in the room with the jute rug and leather swivel armchair, with all the art. It looks like a room where I wouldn't be bothered by technology and could hibernate properly!

  19. Great collection of images!

It's been a heck of a year so far; it feels like we went from Spring to July in about an hour, then August to Winter is about a week. Just catching the breath enough to size up the cores around closing up the yard. Brought in the tropicals this past, staged the rest of the potted plants for cleaning and debugging before bringing into the house. Then a pause until December when the deep cleaning of the flower beds and pruning back of the vines and trees begins.

And we're getting much needed rain this week, too.

It never stops, Mistress. It never stops.
