I thought I had seen the best waterfalls on my various trips to Canada.. Niagara Falls of course. That was till the Costa Rica and Buenos Aires trips. When I and MM#1 Fan went to Buenos Aires, we took two days to go see the Iguazu Falls. Upon first sight, I was like WOW. And then the words I read of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt came to mind- " Poor Niagara!" I was just blown away by the sheer beauty of Iguazu Falls. Iguazu may not be the largest waterfall, but it is in a league earing the tile of the world's largest waterfall system in the world with several massive waterfalls all concentrated in this one area. To see the Iguazu Falls for the first time is to see nature at it's finest. And of course much like Canada and the US, the age old question is which side is better for viewing? Argentina or Brazil? Paraguay doesn't count, since so little of it is actually in that country. I can say if you want up close and personal to the falls and take in it's immense power, with boats rides and walkways, and more vantages points, then the Argentinian side is far better, and cool suspects from wildlife can be seen also. We did both. I must admit that the Brazil side gives one a unparalleled and undisturbed panoramic view of the 275 individual waterfalls crashing from 260 ft cliffs. But definitely a more enter at your own risk. If you only have one day to explore then go with the Argentina side. Getting there is fun too. Most take a small flight since it's about about a 15 hour drive from Buenos Aires, but we opted for a overnight bus trip, to save money for other things and take in scenery along the way.
The falls are just stunning; every view a picture!
ReplyDeleteSuch magnificence.
ReplyDeleteOh man...this is a trip. Magnificent views. But I must admit those birds look more menacing than friendly. Did you and MM #1 Fan wear your speedos?
ReplyDeleteWe saved the speedos for the hotel!!!!!
DeleteOh yes, they definitely put Niagara Falls to shame! Love those birds too.
ReplyDeleteWhat force behind the water falls.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Incredible! The falls sure do look gorgeous, and it looks like an amazing experience - now if I can get my other half to go to South America.....
ReplyDeleteGO!!!!!! You won't be disappointed, and the trip was fairly more inexpensive that I thought.
DeleteGOREGOUS PICTURES!
ReplyDeleteI read about the Iguazu Falls once. And here I thought the Devil's Throat was in Bucks County?😉😜😈
😁😁😁😁😁😁
DeleteI've been to Niagara Falls (on the Canadian side), but never even heard of Iguazu. Looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty out there! 💚 What an adventure. Quite refreshing. 🙂
ReplyDeletePoor Niagara indeed!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine the noise. The power of nature, it makes us feel insignificant, doesn't it?
Great photos, Maddie! Waterfalls are so magical, be they small or large. Have you ever been to see the Victoria Falls on the Zambesi River in Africa? It must be stunning to fly over them!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the falls! Actually... Africa is second on my list for travel right after my next vacation spot, when travel begins. Im not sure where into relation Nairobi is to Victoria Falls? I must google that. I love waterfalls too Tundra! Being near any water being it river, lake, beach, waterfall, I find seriously therapeutic for the soul and rejuvenating.
DeleteBeing in, on or near water is very restorative for me too! The Victoria Falls are on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe which is quite far from Nairobi. Given all the political unrest in Kenya, I'm not sure if travel there is advised.... kinda like the Middle East!
DeleteYou're not kidding. That's amazing in photos. Can't imagine what it would be like to experience it. Those birds are Plush-crested Jays (Cyanocorax chrysops). Magical.
ReplyDeleteWow! What stunning falls. It must have been quite loud being so close, no? And refreshing on a hot day.
ReplyDeleteWHAT! I don't have my ear trumpet.....
DeleteOh my goodness! Please make me your official travelling companion! I could fit in your trunks - NOT a euphemism.
ReplyDeleteSx
That would be fun Scarlet!!!! My trunks are pretty good size if it's any consideration.
DeleteIguazu is the place of dreams - I've always wanted to see the falls! Jx
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking! Just make sure to take a slicker and rain bonnet!
DeleteWow! That is very, very nice!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking. I'd love to go!
And is that a Monarch? I've been trying to get milkweed to grow in my backyard so they have a place to lay their eggs!!
XOXO
That one butterfly is a monarch. That one landed in my hand and stayed forever flapping it's wings...it was awesome. Yes Milkweed and other nectar heavy flowers should attract them. My mothers butterfly bushes attract some butterflies of all kinds.
DeleteThat's a magical moment Mistress.
DeleteSomeone earlier used this word, but I will use it here: Magnificent!
ReplyDeleteNice! And so little known.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!! I hope one day to travel to Argentina.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to south America although my parents did at least a couple of times (my mother was an inveterate traveller. I would have loved to go to Machu Picchu; have you been there?
ReplyDeleteI have not been to Machu Picchu, but would love to see it. I've toyed with adding Peru to my bucket list.
DeleteStunning in the photos must be overwhelming IRL.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I though Niagara took my breath away till this.
DeleteGreat post...save a spot for me on that viewing plate!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love waterfalls.
ReplyDeleteThey could all be screen savers on my computer.
ReplyDeleteLoverly, loverly, loverly!
ReplyDeletethanks for posting.
xoxo :-)
I read that as Iguana Falls. Ooops. These pictures are so alive that I can hear the falls and the wildlife in my head! Love the birds and the little long nosed raccoony things. I know the name, I just prefer raccoony.
ReplyDeleteRacoons were always my guide when I used to line my eyes Deedles. William would say "Oh I see the racoon is back!"
DeleteHa! That only happened to me (on the rare occasions when I wore the stuff) when I woke up the next morning without washing my face beforehand, Ms Agnes. I was asked once or twice if I was half Black and half Chinese, and that was without the liner. The liner emphasized the natural almond shape of my eyes. I'm too clumsy for the stuff. I'd poke an eye out. Oh, it was the mascara that made me racoony, not liner. Liner made me Asian like, so much better than my particular racoon. I'm sure your dear William adored it and you.
DeleteOhhhhh make- up tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteMy eye liner days and mascara are behind me now girls. If I attempted to do it now, one would think Helen Keller did my make up.
DeleteYou got some excellent pictures! You'll always remember this. We spent 4 wonderful nights at The Belmond in Iguassu Falls in Brazil years ago. We had a fabulous guide escorted us to the beautiful Brazilian & Argentinian sides of the falls in the enormous National Park, and the bird sanctuary. I found the people of Argentina to be gentle & polite. This post brought back some great memories.
ReplyDeleteThe waterfalls of the Iguazú, I read, are one of the nine wonders of the world, and it is for a reason, after see this. Good friend of mine were there and said it just makes Niagara seem like a trickle. She found it very emotional. It just blows the mind that power behind a waterfall I must say. But those birds caught me eye! How gorgeous. I say keep traveling and store these wonderful memories. Hope your doing well.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking... and great photos, as usual, dear. Those coati are like raccoons are here. We feed ours cat food. And those birds! Fun. Thank you for sharing. If you move there... I get to come visit! Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI would swear, you've gotten round more than a STD!
ReplyDeleteBut these photos are spectacular. Nice to see the other things you experinced outside of your original posts.
