THE SUNDAY LIST

I don't know where the weekend went. Yes I do. Friday night was spent starting the weekend at a happy hour to celebrate my longtime dear friend Vera Charles's 60th birthday, which turned into a drag show with hometown girl Stormy Sky and a very late night. The Mistress didn't even arise till yesterday till 2:00pm. When Ms Moorecock came into drawn the curtains I said, "How can you see with all the light?" Then some time spent in the garden cleaning up dead blooms and the start of some fallen leaves. Today, it's overcast and a misty day and lunch with a friend. Here is a snippet of tidbits on my mind of late and some things of interest that caught my attention.

Tickets have been secured for the Arias with a Twist show for my own birthday plans. I've been a longtime fan of Joey Arias, one of the most creative queens in NYC in my opinion and can sing like Billie Hoilday extremely well. Now Joey is back for a curtain call in this theatrical return engagement with a blend of cabaret, puppetry and performance art. The show includes the diva herself along with master puppeteer Basil Twist. The plot? A madcap surreal journey where performer Joey Arias is kidnapped by aliens, navigates a psychedelic trip, and returns to New York to perform with a puppet big band. Yep, sounds about right for Joey.

Meanwhile in San Antonio TX, the city council approved a memorial street be named after drag performer and legendary pageant queen Erica Andrews, who we sadly lost years back.

I first heard the news from her drag daughter Roxxxy Andrews when we crossed paths in Ptown. Now the good news is the city council passed it!  Might not sound like huge news, but for a street to be named after a drag queen, in Texas of all places, in a nice step. One of the council members considered Andrews a trailblazer and provided visibly for trans people. She is about the fifth queen I know of to have a named street after her, along with Sylvia Rivera, Swann Street in DC, Jose Sarria in CA, and Bianca Paige, of Nashville, who was incidentally the first queen to have the honor of a street named after her.

The human race is responsible. The northern white rhino is now on the brink of extinction. It is very sad to read that out loud, to see a species go extinct. Only two females now survive on the entire plant. An entire species reduced to its last two living beings, doomed to disappear, with no surviving males. For decades these animals have been victims of killing and poaching and trafficked just for their horns. The two females, Najin and Fatu are living and under 24-hour armed guard because of bastards.

Meanwhile in India, their beloved tigresses Collarwall passed on at 16 and a mother who gave birth to 29 cubs in her life. The tiger played a remarkable role in the huge growth of the tiger population in Pench and became a symbol of successful wildlife conservation and was almost revered as the Queen of Pench. Her final farewell was marked with flowers and traditional rituals, as the city citizens and forest officials gathered to pay tribute to a tigress who left an extraordinary legacy.

Speaking of great mammals. The whale watch from Ptown. Great catch of the whales, a great moment caught on the boat with their nice music... with exception to the loudmouth next to me.

While on vacation, I saw snippets of news, the bullshit continues...the wars, the stupidity of the administration, tearing up of the legendary cherry blossoms, the threat of tearing down the Kennedy Center, stripping laws to protect endangered species and the rounding up and selling off of wild horses, to the Dump and the Wrestling Queen formally rescinding Biden era regulations, removing explicit federal protection for LGBTQ students from the regulatory text. They reinstated the dumps stricter guidelines from his first term, where they only see sex as male or female at birth. And it will also let the whole LGBT student body be discriminated at. Yes, I still hate more than ever the convicted felon, rapist, casino-bankrupting binge baron, reality tv game show host, war and court dodger, this microwaved circus peanut looking idiot, this hell spawned hemorrhoid, half-witted heat miser, that sultan of self-worship, that crusty, clammy, neck folded cheesy scented crybaby toddler. Does that answer your question?

Speaking of wigs like the Dumps...

And the friend and neighbor I had lunch with brought me a bounty of his fresh eggs from his chickens.

They are so pretty, I almost hate to eat them!

  1. My Dearest Mistress, you had quite a weekend. I'm surprised you're still typing. The felon does look a bit like Lady Elaine. It never occurred to me before. A street named for a drag queen in TEXAS? That's an inroad to the repugnicunt filled state of hatred. Thank you for paying tribute to beautiful animals. Wishing you a luscious week.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. I was skipping channels and saw Lady Elaine on Mister Rodgers and had a flashback of how scary she was. But the wig reminded me of the dump then. But you right...I can see the whole resemblance and they scare the hell out of many. Do you think Lady Elaine lent him a wig?

    2. She probably did lend him a wig, or maybe a variety of wigs. He's been changing his "hairstyle" (and I use the term loosely) quite a bit lately.

    2. No, of course he's not - 'cos it's not to do with HIMSELF! (Though it should be - and it actually IS!)

  4. Is this to be a new weekly post? I love it! Joey is INDEED a legend and just may be Holiday reincarnated. I can't wait to see it.

Your love of the animal kingdom is inspiring and a wonderful attribute you have. Sad that humans are just consuming and discarding everything in it's past on this planet.

And fuck the dump! Just die already.

    1. He is one person I'd like to see lose everything and destroyed piece by piece...and then end with a slow disease to finish him off and die very lonely and isolated.

  6. I hear Joey's newest offering is phenomenal! Stunning. Joey is always completely intoxicating. I read about the asshole in office and taking all the protected animals off the list not to mention opening federal national parks land to developers. When does it end????

I love this post too, make it a feature. And kudos too San Antonio! Erica was a drag legend.

  7. The reverence showed to the Tiger brought a tear to my eye.
As a species we are arrogant and self absorbed. Some of us do our best but sometimes the cruelty is overwhelming.
The whole world seems to be under the control of irresponsible people.
    The eggs are beautiful! Xx

  8. The eggs are beautiful. I’d hate to eat them, too. Thanks for the clip of Joey Arias.Incredible. Love the whales video. Don’t you hate when you’re trying to record a magical moment (or even just experiencing one) and someone nearby doesn’t shut up. FEEL the moment! Not every moment has to be filled with your chatter and running commentary.

  12. I love renaming the street after a drag icon; it's Texas, sure, but it's San Antonio which is better than Texas.
As for the rhinos, find those that are hunting these rare creatures and feed them to the rare creatures.

    1. You have no idea the delight I feel when I hear of poachers and hunters trampled, crushed, torn to pieces, and gored by said creatures when their hunting plan goes bottom up.

  14. Love the new header!!!!!!!

You'd blindfold me and I would swear Joey was Billie Holiday singing! The queen is just amazing, one of the dew breakout talents to have a long career without help from the tellie.

And kudos to San Antonio! And honey...that read to the dump...pure shade from the depths!

  15. A bevy of thought-provoking topics here, I like it. It should be almost mandatory to see a Joey Arias show when in New York. The first time I heard his vocals I was in awe of how much he sounded like Billie Holiday. This show looks to be captivating.

The way animals are discarded these days is heart breaking. And sadly the US is one of the worst, especially now thanks to the damn president. Rounding up of wild horses and tearing up more habitat in National Parks and push even more animals to extinction. His answer if just kill them. Why would someone want a country with no beauty and happiness??? Most countries are getting better with environmental protections and such programs, while the US is falling sadly way behind in the dust. We will be left fending for ourselves when the fuels are harming us way to much while other countries have found ways to not even charge for energy at certain times of the year.

And is there anything better than farm fresh eggs?!?!?! So fluffy!

  17. What a beautiful and touching send-off for a beloved tigress. Zoos around the world should learn from India's example! Honour these special animals who give so much in zoo breeding programs to bolster/save their species.
