THE SUNDAY LIST
What with Halloween now over, it was a busy weekend. Here is this Sunday List of things that caught my attention that I enjoyed this week...
Yesterday a friend of mine spent me a picture of her and her husband who had a costume party to attend. Might be one of the most creative couple costumes I may have ever seen.
Speaking of Halloween I saw where Pennsylvania was named the Best Halloween state based on the most haunted states and one of the best states to experience Halloween in, right beside New York. Of the states just about all the top states were located in the Northeast. I guess we do Halloween and hauntings well!
I was very relieved to see a good ending, somewhat, for the famous Barn Owls in NYC. As far as we know, this is the first time barn owls have nested in Manhattan, and it was incredibly exciting to watch. At least till a developer started ripping up the water tower where the owls made their nest and hatched four owlets, that were just about ready to fledge. the roof of the water tower was removed, destroying part of the home of the owl family. After several attempts to start up demolition again...between the NYC Bird Alliance, NY State DOEC and the help of State Senator Eric Boottcher, all work has been halted till the birs are fledged and capable of being on their own. Its been quite the outpouring and outrage in NYC this week, but thankfully all four fledging's return along with their parents to the site. Humans need to remember we share the plant! It's not just ours! Photographer Anke Froblich got some amazing pictures of the birds and was a huge advovate of the cause, god bless her.
A couple months ago, I discovered another little pocket gay I just need to meet and tuck away in my purse! Leo Garbo. Leo is a Berlin based boylesque artist, circus performer and adult based cabaret and boy clown. And my GAWD is he talented and bringing the fun into cabaret and burlesque. If he gets to the States and nearby...I will definitely go to see him. He is mesmerizing.
And I just bet all that hoopla hoop action movements will come in handy when we meet up after the show!!!
I think someone just needs to pull the plug...
While it was nice to see all the regular favorites back on American Horror Story...but the season felt rushed, disjointed, storylines jumping around, and not enough time invested in the storylines and characters. Sort of felt bad for all the talent than came back for such weak writing, and rush plots. The acting was excellent by the actors, but if Ryan Murghy can't take the time to deliver a fuller season why bother??? And what was even the point in Kathy Bates's return??? And that finale???? Time to stop beating the dead horse me thinks. And we Americans need to stop watching the same shows for years. That there is so many seasons of certain reality shows...this is ridiculous.
And then there's THIS!!!! It's time to shit or get off the pot!!!
The moth and lamp costumes are incredible. Appalling about the barn owls. So glad good people stepped up and saved them. The Leo Garbo video was mesmerizing.
Moth costume for the win! Wow! That was ingenious!
The owls remind me of our time (6 months) living in Ormond Beach FL. We wanted the charming house in the country, we wound up with "The Temple of Doom" in a swamp. Our house was in the middle of 3 acres, and I often parked my truck outside the front door. The sun had set and our cat was nowhere to be seen. I opened up the front door, and I finally saw him peeking out from the top of the wheel well of my truck. "Come on, Sam!" I coaxed, and he was a gray streak of lightning from the truck to the house. Now, NOTHING ever phased that cat. I watched him take on and dispatch 6' black snakes. What EVER could have him that terrified. Got my spot light out, and began shining it around the driveway. Up in a pine tree, I spotted it, this GIGANTIC owl! Had to have been longer than my forearm! And it was starting to come down, branch after branch, now at ME! I ran inside and slammed the door shut.
That couple costume is stunning! Good on giving the owls their space. Nice caboose Leo Garbo. As for AHS you covered my sentiment's exactly. It didn't feel like a true season, just some vignettes.
My great nephew was off trick or treating on Saturday evening, so I made sure he had a hag stone to fend off witches. I haven't heard that he was dragged away by witches so I can only assume that the Scottish natural protection saved him from a fate worse than death.
Peacock feathers to look around .. nice
ReplyDeleteI love peacock feathers..feathers and rocks in general.
DeleteI liked the owls best.
ReplyDeleteHula Hoops, eh.
ReplyDeleteLeo is so talented!!!! He even has his dogs in some routines.
DeleteOwls are amazing creatures! My favourites are the Snowy Owl and the wee Burrowing Owl.
ReplyDeleteIm happy this family has prevailed. It could have been a terrible turn out had the construction not halted.

ReplyDeleteCheck out his Instagram and You Tube when you get a chance.
DeleteI'm pleased to read that the owls were eventually left alone, and the moth and lamp costumes are inspired!

A nice recap of the week.

ReplyDeleteI hope you been well Helen! I see you survived Hallows Eve!
DeleteFear not; I have plenty of hag stones of my own.
DeleteI love that couples costume idea. It's sure a lot better than Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
ReplyDeleteThat couple's costumes must be the best I've seen this year - faboo!
ReplyDeleteOwls are endlessly fascinating creatures, so elegant - and completely silent in flight. Love 'em, and so pleased that little brood thrived...
