Some of my snaps from the last few weeks, that I enjoyed seeing. Philly to Harrisburg, and some old goats.
City Hall, Philadelphia
I've always loved the design of the 38th Street Train Station in Philly.
The capitol here in Harrisburg had the tree lighting this week. Beautiful and all the ornaments were made by children.
Saw this at the Philadelphia Art Museum with Sixpence when he was here. This cage on wheels said it most likely housed a favorite pet dog of a very wealthy Chinese nobleman. The creme colored circles were solid jade. Buster Borghese now has it on his Christmas wish list.
Some cute goats at Ashcombe Farm.
At the governor's mansion, where the Dame was invited back for a second year to deck it's halls. I can attest the first family, the Shapiros are a swell and very welcoming and down to earth family.
House chamber in the Capitol.
The light show at the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia.
At the Lemoyne Marketplace antique center. I was amazed at the asking price of these ceramic trees these days. WOW. I guess I hold on to the ones my mother made.
A lounging Sophie Lucille
A beautiful Morrish tile at the Philly art museum.
Not a soul in sight. a peaceful looking Walnut Street Bridge in Harrisburg.
"Buster Borghese now has it on his Christmas wish list" -- hahahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteAlas....Santa wasn't successful on getting it out of the museum......
DeleteI love the yellow hues of the governor's Christmas tree. It's something different.
ReplyDeleteThe Dame was touched to have been asked back again. His floral work is so creative and out of the box as to the other run on the mill florist in the area. He's done three events this year along there.
DeleteThe walls are painted black!? Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe walls are actually painted chocolate brown. It was actually very elegant I thought. That shade of brown I have used in the past and it's very warm and rich.
DeleteThose photographs are so exceptional, You have a wonderful area of this country to reside in. Just truly beautiful.!!
ReplyDeleteHarrisburg is a good egg, but I don't know how long I will reside here for. Philly on the other hand......
DeleteWhen I read the first line about old goats, I wasn't sure what to expect... but your photos are lovely! And I can just picture you pulling Buster and Sophie around in that priceless jade cart... not everyone wants a hernia for Xmas, but then, I suspect you've always marched to your own tune, LOL!
ReplyDeleteAren't those goats cute? And alas, as much as Buster wanted that for his bed...we had a hard time "sneaking" it out.
DeleteEverything is beautiful! The Governor’s Mansion is stunning. What an honor to be asked back. Old goats can be so attractive.
ReplyDeleteAnd wiley the goats can be.
DeleteLove the first four pictures. The City Hall pic of tree is so pretty and something haunting and desolate about the church picture. Now will Buster be up set if he doesn't get his dog cage bed??? H'd look so handsome sleeping in it.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos; love the train station, built at a time when public spaces still looked grand.
ReplyDeletePhilly is a city everyone should see at holiday time. Ah, Wanamaker's, I knew there would be a huge organ someplace in your post.
ReplyDeleteClearly the Chinese nobleman didn't realise that dogs need to be exercised to be kept healthy.
ReplyDeleteThe sign indicated that a bed is usually in it. I think it was more of a enclosed, glorified dog bed.
DeleteThe goats are adorable! Love the tree at the State Capitol Building. How nice the ornaments were made by children.
