MOOD BOARD

Another weekend seems to have turned into vapor and slipped through the cracks! The Christmas season and the end of the year approach quickly. Another good weekend at home, after working last week over time, and then my annual pilgrimage to NYC with my ex fellow co-workers. Always great to see them. All three gifts are wrapped, and the halls of the Casa du Borghese were decked. I know, shocking to know I was handling a bunch of balls. Now it's all smooth sailing and relaxing right into New Year with exception to my famer market days to getting the things I need for Christmas day and the Eve dinners. And on Thursday, a long-awaited project got moved up .... new living room windows! A Christmas gift to myself along with a new cashmere sweater. All the windows and doors had been replaced about 9 years ago, but the Mother didn't do the living room one. And it's huge!!! They are 10 feet tall, and I have no idea the width. But I got what I wanted. I originally wanted windows to open out to allow fresh air in, but they didn't make them the height I needed. The ones I got ended up with the same look, but the cool thing is I can slide the two big windows on the ends, in toward the middle window, like sliding glass doors. It will be nice. I love fresh air in the warm months. The last windows from the same company have been excellent on the heating and noise factors, so I know I'll be pleased with these. They were to be installed the day after Christmas...but since everything is in, and received, they called to move it up. I'm fine with that....oh shoot, it means a four-day work week. The next three weeks. Funny how that happened?!?! And we had a dusting of snow last evening, so there was that.

Here's to another Monday! And just for shit and giggles, one of my favorite Christmas ditties. Just makes one feel good I think, and what's not to like about Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass?

  1. Sounds like you found the perfect solution to the windows. I love big windows like that. Ours aren't 10' --- but 8' tall x 12' wide. There are two of those - plus the other large windows in all other rooms. Have a wonderful slide into Christmas!

  2. Ohhh
Ten feet tall windows?? A dream! But I can imagine they would have to be custom (and very expensive as you wanted them). Glad you got an option that will allow you to open them. And I love Herb Albert!!

    XOXO

  3. I wonder if Herb Alpert will ever lose his cool (although maybe not this song). Whose legs-up Christmas balls are those? I think they need a shine.

I have wide windows in the living room, but nothing fancy.

  5. We have several trees decorated with mistletoe in the village, but as they are 50' + tall no-one ventures to harvest the mistletoe. Plus I love owls; we hear them calling in the night; a very evocative sound.

  9. Rather adore that post-orgy winter wonder-what-happened photo with the settee. My kind of gothic romance. Interesting about mistletoe. I just use it to ensnare the occasional prince (and, let's be honest - more than my fair share of trolls). This week. It's magical, huh? I adore it. Everyone has a special brand of anticipation in their eyes - you can hear it in their voices. And Herb Alpert! Grew up with him. But then, you know me... Love a man with a horn!

  10. Congrats on the new windows, Maddie -- all that light will be welcome in mid-winter! Interesting mood board as always -- the chandelier room reminded me of Miss Havisham....

    1. I agree! And the price was even nicer! Hence why I can be found at the corner of Third and State Streets for Friday and Saturdays for a few weeks.

  14. You had me at the first picture!!!!! The dog in the car and the lady in red are pretty pictures. As it that lady's silhouette in the doorway. I always enjoy these mood boards. The song brightened my mood too! The cocktails picture! Looks like happy hour at the Casa.

  16. Oh, crikey, I need some new windows - also large, therefore expensive. I've been putting it off for years.
Anyhow, thank you for the festive mood board and enjoy your downtime!

    1. Id been putting it off too. But between the window itself and the storm windows...the glass was getting discolored and the wood trim was cracking badly...not to mention one could feel the draft at times coming in. I got a good deal and it came in below what I was expecting...so went for it.
