MOOD BOARD
Well, it was quite the birthday weekend!!!! And happy to say I survived. Till I collect myself, might I present my current mood board for some eye treats. I'll return with more fun and antics later sweet cheeks.
I could use a pile of nice warm purring black kittens to cuddle with. It's a wonder I've never gone as Morticia Addams. Of all the celebrities I look the most like Anjelica Huston. The bat is adorable! I'm glad people are starting to value them more. They are sky puppies that pollinate at night and help maintain important ecosystems, including the one that gives us, tequila, is it? Agave.
Well then you must be glorious, because Angelica is stunning. And I thank you for the B-day wishes dear. I too love bats. I rescued one once, a baby. It was so adorable and so tiny. They really help out around here with keeping pesky flying bug population downs like gnats and mosquitoes.
Oh I adore Angelica Houston! And the Nosferatu trick is amazing! I would buy that for the holiday...how creative! Another lovely mood board. Glad to read you had a good time. I hope you post some pictures.
The fruit bat brings back memories from 1966 when we lived in an old Victorian boarding house in old town Orange Ca on Olive St. Ms Grey’s house was like a museum, old rain barrels on each corner of the house, a long kitchen from yesteryear with two sinks, one from the 1920’s with gooseneck wall mounted faucets, and another farmers sink from the 1880’s that had a hand pump to get the well water out of the ground ! One of the first electric clothes washers, it was a wood trough with a metal lining and baffles and rocked back and forth with solenoids and springs. A General Electric monitor top refrigerator, that looked like a square white robot and an old gas clothes dryer with an exposed motor and drive belt. She also had old bicycles from the turn of century with one big wheel at the front. Her house sat on a long lot that faced Olive St and the backyard stretched to a block behind at Lemon St. Her backyard had several small bungalows that once housed migrant workers who picked the fruit and walnuts on Ms Grey’s grandfathers land when the grounds of the house covered several hundred acres. Her front yard had fruit and avocado trees that were home to small bats and one big fruit bat. With its fox like face and snout, sharp teeth, wandering eyes and grin on its face, we kids thought it was a vampire bat ! Ms Grey died in the early 1970’s with no surviving family members. The old Victorian mansion was sold, torn down and its lot divided in two. Now two apartments stand on the long lot Ms Grey’s big Victorian home once stood on. -Rj
I love this post. So atmospheric. I am going to steal the pies with faces when i do my next batch for the kids. They will love them. How remiss of me to miss your birthday. Wishing you a belated happy birthday! I am 65 in a couple of weeks. It's a privilege denied to many, growing old. It's great to be alive!
