It's been a while since we had a little walk around the Casa du Borghese. What a better time to have some small peeks into my sanctuary then at Hallowe'en time. Our tricks or treats was last night, so I Ieft work a tad early to do some things around the house. People at work were griping about Halloween and decorating and such, and I have no idea why since they don't decorate or "do" Halloween. I myself love most holidays but Halloween and Thanksgiving are my two favorites. But remember when Halloween meant running the entire neighborhood until your legs gave out and mischief night? You would carefully take weeks to select your boxed costume, have a pillowcase or cute bucket to collect the candy and a crew of you would go out and were to be home by 10pm. You'd hit every house, rank them by their candy. Full size candy bars were legends. The house with boxed raisins? Not so much. Then you'd trade candy on the livingroom floor like Wall Street brokers and wake up November 1st with a sugar hangover. I feel sorry for kids these days never knowing the magic of the Halloween night, the decorations and such. Now? Kids get chauffeured house to house like tiny celebrities. Parents idle at the curb, or they go to this weird trunk or treats in a parking lot where buckets are filled in 15 minutes. Efficient? Sure. Magical? Nope. And in the neighborhood like here last night, it now only goes from 6-8pm!!! WHAT? At least the kids made an effort. I have some friends in neighborhoods where teens show up not even dressed up, or the little ankle biters aren't even dressed. At least the ones I saw here last night were cute and they seemed to be having fun.And for the love of the Goddess Halloween lands on a Saturday this year...so there is no excuse to not have tricks or treats that night, plus it's not a school night! I will continue to embrace the magic.

A BRIEF HALLOWEE'EN TOUR
Upon getting home I did some branch and leaf burning in the firepit...or was a conjuring the dead? Then it was off to get the beggers candy bags ready.
One of my favorite rooms...the living room. Warning ahead. Sophie is a photo bomber. My sofa is comfy but the desk and the chair next to it are my go to places to be.
Love the ginger jar from the Arhaus Dynasty. There is another one that sat with this one but I don't know what Ms.Moorecock did with it. "Ms Moorecock,Anita! What are you hiding in the corner for? What did you do with the other Arhaus ginger jar?" "Don't you remember, you lush? You crashed it." "What do, what do you mean I crashed it?" "Don't you remember that happy hour weeks ago you got carried away with the houseboys and gin? We had to send it out to the restorers." "Oh this is ridiculous, it should have been here for this brief tour."
A few touches of Hallows in the kitchen.
In the spare bedroom are these works of art. These are from the talents of blog buddy Ms. Scarlet who hails from the UK and is very talented with her beautiful calligraphy and colleges. Yes, Ms Scarlet, I even framed the envelope!
And of course you heard the Mistress loves her juice. And here's the "juice bar". Oh. excuse me a minute. "Ah... Ms. Moorecock! Ms. Moorecock, there's not enough juice out here, I'm talking about the juice we keep in the house. It's quite barren if I have to say." Well let's keep moving.
Then we have the boudoir, my favorite room, where the Mistress also like to slumber, read, and I do some of my best entertaining and wheeling and dealing. Never mind the murderess on the bed.
A view of the front porch last night. I craved two pumpkins and I'll have you know I even roasted the pumpkin seeds with several spices and truffle oil. They were fabulous!
Well kids, thanks for joining in on this Hallows tour! I say embrace Halloween. But for now, I have only one thing to say.....
HENDRICKS!!!!!!!!

Everything looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI love the candles! And the details here and there that remind us of the holiday. And most can be left out for November. Love your bedroom. And I have that same metal fan! Great minds…
Sophie looks adorbs.
And your Myrtle Snow is on point!
XOXO
Easy for Myrtle....no make up required!!! Let's test each other's bedrooms and see how we feel!!!!!! I LOVE that fan.
DeleteAs usual the Casa looks holiday stunning and the bar is fully stocked and even Myrtle Snow showed up!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Sophie boudoir photo.
Thank you Bob. She a little hamlet.
DeleteMay Halloween bring you all the Hendricks you can handle, Myrtle . . . I mean, Mistress!
ReplyDeleteIf I had been a woman I bet I would have been a Fertile Myrtle!!!!!!
DeleteI love how you decorated the place. In case you're offline, I hope you have a great Halloween!
ReplyDeleteIll even be happier with a Halloweenie!!!!!
DeleteI can't believe it. You have a firepit going with as dry as it is!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a dome screen that goes over the top and the hose is always at the ready.
DeleteJ’adore la lampe jack-o’-lantern, votre meuble-bar et la précieuse Sophie :)
ReplyDelete-Beau Mec à Deauville
You really do know how to "do" a holiday!
ReplyDeleteI love seasonal decorating.
DeleteI was distracted by a member of your squirrel army warming itself in your shorts. I have no idea what the rest of this post is about. That's the story I'm sticking with. Carry on.
ReplyDeleteI did have a squirrel...one of tje tame ones jump on my lap the other day....I was shocked. Could he have been after my macadamias!?!?!?
DeleteIf I were a young gay squirrel, that's what I would've been after. Just sayin'.
DeleteThe decor is, of course, fabulous. I’ve seen you looking better. Get thee to the salon!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Myrtle Snow? It doesnt take much! Lol!!!!!
DeleteSG found American Horror Story too unsettling, so I never watched it which means I didn’t know who Myrtle Snow is. YOU are an amazing Myrtle Snow.
DeleteYour tour of Casa Du Halloween is as fabulous as ever! The black and orange bottle brush trees are a surprise since I didn't know they're available in those colours... I always learn new things from your blog, LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou so don't want to know how many bottles brush trees I have.
DeleteThank you for the lovely tour, sweetpea! Your individual vignettes are super! I'm with you on the Hendricks, but I'm still looking for The River Test gin locally! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHave you found it yet???
DeleteQuite Lovely !!! I love the wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteI have been getting back into wallpaper again....a thing many are frightened to used.
DeleteAs a fan of vintage graphic art, I do like that witch-and-anthropomorphic crescent moon thingee.
ReplyDeleteThe Dame sourced that for me. The bottom of that piece has the tissue paper according honeycomb thing that opens like a fan. I love the old vintage decorations best.
DeleteYou have such flair! Your home is just my cup of tea. I love the furnishings and the use of bold colours.
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate for Halloween but do have sweets for any children that come. Not many come though.
The older i get I feel drawn to Samhain, the ancient Gaelic festival. The veil between our world and the deceased is at it's thinnest.
Lovely to see Sophie too. Xx
Sophie send her regards! I have always loved this time of year...and have also embraced Samhain...I know there must be things around us that do not make themselves known. Have a wonderful Samhain.
DeleteOMG!!!! I am framed and in your spare bedroom!!!! I'm a bit beside myself, and also in awe of how I managed to get the stamps so straight on the envelope!! That doesn't usually happen.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you make an effort for Halloween - your home looks so inviting and comfortable. Thank you for the tour!
Sxx
P.S I think I've already missed the Christmas post for the US, but will try my hardest to do something this year - I was a very poor show for almost everyone last year.
I adore Halloween for many reasons. And I'll have you know those that have visited all ask the story of those framed works you made. Ekk gads! Christmas! I won't even think about it...bite your tongue!
DeleteHendrix and Bluecoat should sponsor your posts. Stay spooky.
ReplyDeleteOh Mistress...you place is always so handsome! I absolutely love the wallpaper behind the bar, and is it any wonder you love your bedroom so much? It nice and moody. And I agree about Halloween and the time we live in now. Seems no one embraces the fun side of holidays anymore or their meaning. I too try to bring fun and the magical feel for my grandkids. I love seasonal decorating. Otherwise, life t boring and the seasons just blend.
ReplyDeleteI also love the pumpkins you craved.
Let me tell you...I can LOUNGE in my boudoir!!!!!
DeleteYou have great style! And in the second picture, you're conjuring up more than spirits by the looks of it.
ReplyDeleteI must have been thinking about you on the beach this summer.
DeleteWhat a wonderfully seasonal, warm environment you have created at the Casa.
ReplyDeleteI love everything, but the gourds and pumpkins are especially fun!
Happy Halloween!
Everything in your home looks wonderful - I'm coming to your house for drinks!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't get any trick-or-treaters. 🙁 We live out in the country on a road with few houses and we're down a long lane. My kids are the only little ones around. We went trick-or-treating this year in a nearby town from my brother's house. He's had a party too so my boys were very excited. So they went as a knight, a ninja, Sherlock Holmes - and Papa Smurf.
Your place always shines! And you're a excellent Mrytle Snow!!!!
ReplyDeleteI watch American Horror Story. I felt so sorry for the talent on the show being sweet talked into doing this season. It stank! It was rushed, so disjointed with the jumping around, and the finale was a complete joke. What was even the purpose of having Kathy Bates back in such a short bit?? I read that Jessica Lange was not happy with several things.
