AUTUMN GARDEN

Dears, we couldn't have possibly asked for a more glorious weekend weather wise! After a long week, and our company switching to a whole new tech system and intranet program, not to mention me now covering two locations as Showroom Visual Manger, it was a stressful week.  Who said technology is a good thing? Give me nature any day. The weekend was spent baking some goodies for a trip later in the month, a trip to Strite's Orchard for my first of many Apple Ciders and a trip to the farmers market yesterday. A huge garden clean up and cutting back of dead and spent blooms was done, but yet, with what seems like another warm week coming and the past one, the garden continues to give some color and some of the plants are trying to give yet one more showstopper, the dears. Looks like we will be holding back a bit before the season of Dead starts. I won't complain. On tap tonight are a few friends coming over for a fire in the firepit and some good cold lagers.

Halloween or St Patrick's?
This clover plant of all things makes me so happy, and I have no idea why...but it is huge, blooming like crazy and even sprouted some babies across the way from it in the garden.
A bumble on the flower of a green onion flower bloom.
Some kind of hawthorn I believe, but the berries are stunning color.

First pumpkin arrived!

IN THREE WORDS

In this feature, I'll share a weekly guest with you all each week, and you tell me in only three words what comes to mind.

This week, sad news. The passing of an actress in what may have been one of the most recognized comedies and characters on both sides of the pond ....a swell and talented actress and one of my favorites... from Plain Jane, to Keeping Up Appearance "Bouquet residence, Lady of the house speaking".... to Heddy Wainthropp Investigates and playing Kitty from Victoria Wood, not to mention too many to name stage performances...

SEEN IN NEW HOPE

A few weeks ago and once back from Barbados, and before Warbucks left to go home to Budapest, he and I and Pearly spent a few days in New Hope. It was especially nice for Pearly to get out of P-town, which nearly never happens. Was it a quick trip? Yes, but anytime spent back in my old stomping grounds is welcomed. Not only is it an all are welcomed community, but it's nice to be surrounded with more left leaning than right leaning if you get what I'm stepping in, lol!!!! I will never tire of this quirky and quaint town. And all that history and lore that comes along with the river town. Here are some of the sights and delights on this visit.

I miss this library.
Along the canal.
Head for $9.95! A steal!
Drinks and nibbles at the Salt House. The building dates back to the late 1700's.
The Mansion Inn. Meanwhile at the vintage shop Love Saves the Day, they always have a great message!
And up the street at a huh, "specialty shop" they sold things for all the therapy one would ever need!!!! Meet Phil!
We were talking to the owner, Garrett who I know, and he said in these times, he is actually shocked by sales being so high. His inventory in very low at the moment. I guess everyone is looking for some escape, lol!He even has items to get you in the Halloween spirit. My bottom hurts just thinking about it.

The lovely weekend ended with a farewell dinner at the church, and then the dive bar John and Peters, before departing our separate ways the next day. Goddess... I miss this town. At all my old haunts, everyone was asking when I'm moving back. It's nice to be missed.

CHECK IT OUT

I HATE Walmart. I hate big boxes. I never go in but was so desperate for white out and other work and cleaning supplies for the showroom one day, I went in, got the stuff and left. Remember when stores use to have sweets and candy at the checkout lanes?

Sweet Jesus, Mary, Mother of Pearl!!! Maybe I need to reconsider shopping there. Now THAT would have made for a lovely afternoon delight.

VANITY FAIRE

If you do drag and don't know who Vanity is, gurl...who best expand your horizons! Any drag who drags has at least one wig creation from this queen. And if you're a fan of many well-known queens, most likely you've seen this queens work. Vanity Faire had a lifelong affair with wigs and makeup, he has toured the world as a successful makeup artist, a wig stylist, and drag performer. Vanity's artistic passion developed at a very young age, and fresh out of school decided to pursue a career in hairdressing. Not content with the simple life he packed his bags and moved to Sydney's Oxford Street where he felt right at home and Vanity Faire was born and became a full-fledged drag queen, where she stood out from the pack. Can you say Ultra Glam? It wasn't long before legendry queen, Carlotta, of Les Girls snapped her up for her touring drag show. While Vanity still does drag and performs with a busy schedule, in 2006 she and Courtney Act officially launched Wigs by Vanity and to some it would appear their new lace front wigs appeared within the drag community virtually overnight. Some queens will only wear a lace front wig. While they searched worldwide for a source that could produce these wigs at an afforded cost for drag queens, some companies charge up to $1,000 for a lace front....Vanity took it upon herself to learn the art of lace front wig making, and all these years later the joint company has blown up....Vanity's work on wigs are beautiful, big, full, glamorous and with undetectable hairlines and affordable... not to mention made by a drag queen for drag queens! And kids...Vanity is stunning to boot, and a hell of a performer. I'll have to share Vanity creations one day.
