Whilst searching for something or other on Pinterest, I came across a photo of the fabulous Betty White. I never knew she once hosted the Thanksgiving Parade from the 1960s to the early '70s. Who knew? Did you? The Casa du Borghese says: Can we bring back this tradition? Take a look at our beloved Betty in action along with her co-host, actor Lorne Greene. Bring back this funny, fabulous woman to the parade tradition, look at these pictures and see if you don't agree.
I remember them well.Betty White and Lorne Greene were a class act. Better than we have today.
ReplyDeleteIt was before my time when she hosted but I can imagine she was fabulous.
DeleteAnd Betty still has it!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'd forgotten she and Lorne Greene hosted the parade. Does THAT bring back memories. Yes, she'd be wonderful to bring back.
ReplyDeleteQueen of the parade! Love the photographs, never seen it before
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful memories. Who doesn't LOVE Betty White? She is smart, witty, beautiful and still has a sparkle in her eyes!
ReplyDeleteLove Betty White. She's a classic and I'd definitely watch her. :)
ReplyDeleteThose were the good ol' days when I could actually tolerate watching the parade.
ReplyDeleteRAMEN, bro! the philly parade has become more "here's your favorite ABC tv stars!" as opposed to local talent/local bands.
DeleteI was but a very wee one then, but even since I remember the parade its changed. Not much showing, but more talking. Anne Marie- I have only seen it on tv a few times. My family always seems to have on the New York parade.
DeleteShe certainly looks like she's having fun in these photos. And Lorne Greene too! (I only know him from Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica, and I don't recall him smiling much in those shows).
ReplyDeleteThat gal had some of the best dimples in show business! Lovely pictures
ReplyDeleteApparently you didn't see the ones on my ass yet?
DeleteThat Lorne Greene really rocked the ascot.
ReplyDeleteWould you mind refraining from telling us about Lorne's dirty side. Its like you have first hand knowledge?
DeleteShe looks as good then as she still does now! And I miss Lorne Greene.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Betty White back as a host. I had forgotten about that as well. I also miss Lorne Greene. Loved him in Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica.
ReplyDeleteThe woman is a National Treasure, that's for sure. She's smart, she's funny, she can be very irreverent. And she's managed to keep working when other's have faded - which speaks to her level of talent, and a work ethic that producers and directors adore. Hugs to you, Mistress!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe she is still going.
Deleteyes, we all loved betty, but she's 107 now.
ReplyDeleteshe'll spot one of those balloons bearing down on 6th avenue
and announce, "oh my, here comes that dear kate smith!
maybe she'll sing 'god bless america' for us?"
" right after this message from the good folks at Geritol.."
Deletei don't think i ever saw her (most of the 60s spent in canada). i bet she
ReplyDeletewas fun to listen to.
Wouldn't she be great! I still watch......even though it seems to be all commercials. Your lucky to see much parade.
ReplyDeleteSo young here, yet she hasn't changed one bit! What great candids.
ReplyDeleteI always admire a woman who NEVER abandons her hairdresser.
ReplyDeleteJean-Paul
She doesn't need to host every year, maybe just one year again for good times!
