REMEMBERING ANNE MARIE

It has been five years already since we, I, and the blogging community loss a swell person. Not much time goes by that I don't recall her, think of her, or when I hear someone say Fuck yeah, or any multitude of fucks in a sentence that I don't think about Anne Marie. She would be beyond massive heart attack if she were here now to see the current climate of the times. I had the pleasure of calling her a good friend, fellow gin guzzler, and loved our four-hour lunches. Many knew her name but may have never got the chance to meet her face to face...but one still was able to feel the spit fire, the warmness and the slap stick, humor sassiness, and feistiness in her spirit. She was an unforgetable force. From blogging community to knitting groups, to pubs, benefits, dance floors and dinner tables she touched many. Today is a little ode of songs in her honor and songs that remind me of her. Now if she were here, she'd say; Stop fucking talking for Christ sake and hit the fucking play button!!!!

Get up and Shake dat ass!!!!!!!!!

And yes, she may strike me dead for spilling some tea, but at one lunch she did indeed admit to the last song as her one and only ABBA song she liked. Or maybe it was just the gin talking. But it suits.

  1. I can't believe you wrote that nice tribute without using the word fuck. She might be a bit disappointed.

  3. Oh, thanks for sharing this today. I had been hoping to meet you both in person my next trip to NYC when she died suddenly. She was a laugh riot, raunchy as hell, and had the heart of an angel. I miss her. Oh, yeah, thank you for the music. She is roaring at that confession.

    1. One day you and I will be like the Titanic and the iceberg... we will hopefully collide, but hopefully it won't be a disaster. LOL

  5. Ugh.
Miss her and her wisdom so much! Miss all the fucks she didn’t give about letting people know what she was thinking.
I believe you and I were getting ready for a road trip to go see her when she passed. I still have the scarf and hat she knitted for me.
    We miss you, gurl.

    XOXO

  6. I was late to Ann Marie but thankful for the short time.
And what's wrong with ABBA? They had a great sound. Never heard that one --- but it's a great tribute.

  8. Ha! Great tribute to an admirable, feisty woman - who truly didn't give a flying fuck, least of all about Abba 😍! Jx

  9. OMG! Believe it or not, I found myself thinking about Anne Marie just yesterday. The context was, I had been thinking how it is that no one has pissed me off lately, brought out my Anne Marie side, LOL.

  10. I can't believe it's been five years already! I still miss her Saturday Night Dance Parties. I'm surprised no one continued her tradition? These are all great tunes... You Should be Dancing always gets me going.

    1. Well in all I see that was Aunt Marie's trademark on the weekends. Not quite sure why no one's picked up and ran with that.

  13. I thought about Anne Marie a couple of days ago and how she'd be cursing fuck fuck fuck over the current crazy train. I wish I had known her longer and in person.

    Love,

    1. I can still recall the first time we met, you always wonder if everything will go all right and if you will get along. Little did I know we were so much alike. And when the lady asked how many at the table I said four. And Marie said four? I said yes you I and your boobies! She knew then we'd be fast friends.

  15. This was a wonderful tribute to Anne Marie. I always loved her salty comments. She even knitted me a Christmas tree skirt when I posted a photo of my Charlie Brown Christmas tree on my blog. She was certainly one of a kind. I miss her too.

    1. Oh yes, so you were the recipient of the tree skirt! I remember when we got together once she said she had knitted two Christmas tree skirts for other people. Did you use that as a Christmas tree skirt, or did you actually wear it like Bernice on Designing Women?

    2. LOL, I actually used it as a tree skirt! Every Christmas when I get it out, I think of her.

  18. I think about my foul mouthed Carebear every time I wear the hat and shawl she made for me. It's weird that I feel like I've met her in person. Her personality just jumped through the computer screen.

    1. I know we all say when we meet each other we're just like our blogs, and she was definitely like her blog and more! And she adored you and I'm not even teasing. We always thought one day it would be cool to meet you. Of course I would have felt left out I mean what with all those jahobbies! I had to wear a breastplate.

  20. I thank you so much for this. I look around my place and I can see some knickknacks she gave me, and every Christmas I get out the pony she knitted for me. Bless her a thousand times over.
