BLOOMS

After the rotten dirty email Travel started my weekend off with yesterday...I had to go find some pretty and therapy to get the email out of my mind. It has been a glorious weekend weather wise...sun, nice warm temps, no gales, and today was spent getting the gardens empty of leaves, felled branches, and dead debris. Loosen the tanbark away from plants. The sun felt wonderful on the skin. I was happy to see many of the plants are all breaking the ground with little stems...peonies, bleeding hearts, spring bulbs, columbines, lavenders, dianthus and the herbs and delphiniums. I also can't wait to get more wildflower seeds in, especially since the garden will be expanded since the burning bush was removed. Yesterday I went to the Dame's lovely shop to place an order of some more daffodils, and to place an order for my arrangement for the upcoming Easter dinner, and another arrangement to be sent to the good folks at the dental oral surgeon and staff for their welcome, friendly and great process they assisted me with, and making me feel at ease, not to mention making me gorgeous again. I got myself a small nose gay. As always, his shop never disappoints. I hadn't been in since we did the windows.

I stayed and went out for dinner with the Dame and his hubby which was delicious. Of course his home was also looking like spring and Easter.

It has been another glorious weekend. Much to look forward too in the next few weeks. But glad the garden is now cleaned out and ready to go. My day even started out with a homemade breakfast burrito and potatoes this morning, along with a pot of coffee.
A treat I haven't enjoyed in three months!

  1. The Dame has exquisite taste - in the shop and in his home decor.

I'm struggling with the concept of a "breakfast burrito". Wraps have their place - a fast-food lunch when I'm at the office comes to mind - but at breakfast? I'd prefer toast, to be honest. Jx

    1. Oh.... they are so good! I make the wrap with scrambled egg, pieces of sausage, two kinds of cheeses, onions, and a smidge of green pepper.

    1. His shop is gorgeous and very fun to explore....and one of the only proper flower shops around, especially in downtown Harrisburg. Three other owners of flower shops are most likely getting ready to retire soon, while two others just shuttered.

  7. What a deliciously lovely shop, sweetpea! I had a friend in Savannah who had a very similar shop. There were always gorgeous blooms and great gifts there. I miss her and her shop. xoxo

    1. People seem to be drawn to his shop and are amazed at what all he has in there for a flower shop.

  8. I still can't bet myself to buy flowers on the grounds they are expensive and ephemeral yet they are so lovely I ought to.

  9. What an absolute feast for the senses! What I wouldn't give to be there with you! It really has cheered me to see such beautiful things.
So pleased to see you can enjoy your favourite foods once again. Lovely plate, too.
Things are settling down here and I'm much less anxious. Dad is slowly accepting his new home. He's even having a joke with the nurses. Thank you for your kindness in thinking of me.
We have pair of blue tits building a nest, right outside our sitting room window. I'm spending hours just watching them. X

    1. Oh, how great that must be to watch. I love it when bird build nest in a bush outside a window to enjoy the daily going ons. And glad to hear all is well with your father. Some will excel at being social and continue living a life. I know my uncle did. He made friends everywhere he went.

  10. Beautiful, Maddie! The Dame's shop is a delight and its contents a taster for the gardens in the coming months. I'm not surprised you treated yourself to a little something while you were there.
