A relaxing day at home today. Everything is calm. Candles lit, stollen made. I will watch some Christmas flicks today with exception to going to visit the cemetery this afternoon to lay a wreath for the Grands. I have three guests for supper tonight and then I'll view A Christmas Carol late. I'm not religious, nor believe in the Bible, but I felt the need to get out my father's nativity creche. It is Italian made and every year it used to grace the dining room. I admit it is very pretty. The camels use to fascinate me as a wee one. He used to get it out, but the baby wouldn't be placed in till Christmas Eve after midnight service. I don't get it out every year, it's been several, but for some reason found it comforting this year.
May we all have a peaceful, bright and calm Christmas, filled with friends, loved ones and good memories.
And a glass of spiked egg nog helps too!
As is tradition here every year. One of my favorite songs of the season by Bucks County native and neighbor, Christina Perri along with her brother accompanying. I have never gotten through the song yet with a dry eye. A beautiful song.
A Happy Christmas to you all.
🌲xoxo🌲

And yet another facet of the diamond you've become over the years. A softer side of our Maddie revealed. It's both lovely and comforting seeing you in this light. Keep that light shing, Mistress, we'll need it in the coming months. Merry, Happy Christmas, Holidays, however you decide to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I let the side out at times. The holidays do it, what can I say. It's like the softer side to Sears!
DeleteA Happy Christmas to you dear.
Very nice. Enjoy some happy holidays, I know I will try.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure the egg nog will help!!!!
DeleteLovely song and lovely nativity scene. I think we all need extra comfort this year because of the terrible turmoil in our country.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I tell you...that song gets me every time Janie. Happy Christmas to you!!!
Delete"I'll Be Home For Christmas" always makes me misty-eyed too, probably because I spent so many years travelling home for Xmas in Manitoba (flying down from the High Arctic, driving across one or more provinces on snow covered, icy highways). I've driven through blizzards, hit black ice one year on Xmas Eve and a kind farmer hauled my truck out of a snow-filled ditch with his tractor, and on another Xmas Eve I hit a deer and met a really cute Quebecois RCMP Officer.... good memories. Enjoy your liquid Yuletide, Maddie!
ReplyDeleteYep, Christina sings this song so pretty, a beautiful song, and gets me thinking back on loss friends and relations. A Happy Yuletide to you Tundra....
DeleteAnd Call the Midwife special in on tomorrow!
Merry Christmas Maddie, the Nativity is indeed Lovely and I'm glad you brought it out this Christmas, and found it comforting. I like "Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt and "Happy Christmas ~ War Is Over" by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Plus, all of the Old Crooner Christmas Songs that are Iconic that my Parents always played by Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Perry Como.
ReplyDeleteFor being younger, I sure am a old soul! I adore you! Merry Christmas to you and the gang!
DeleteJoyeux Noël à Maîtresse et à tous :) ✨

ReplyDeleteYes, I'm joining you in a spiked eggnog this evening! The fruitcake cookies I made didn't get ALL the rum!
ReplyDeleteI see how it is. You made rum fruitcake cakes that called for rum, and now your drunk!
DeleteThis song is purest form of Christmas memories,so beautiful.... I miss my parents. Like you I'm not religious either, but that crèche is so pretty and with the dim lighting.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas Eve Mistress.
Merry Christmas, M'dear!!!! Your card has arrived!!!! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteSome of the cards I've sent within the UK still haven't arrived, and I posted them in time for Christmas - I predicted this would happen, so decided that I would send you something special in the New Year to avoid the postal jam - so expect something joyful in February!!!

A very happy Christmas to you, Mistress. I have been trying to send you an ecard but it's beyond me. My brain is mashed potato at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHope you can maybe eat a little. If not, you must get your calories from eggnog. Xx
Love to you to Christina!!! We must be on the same wavelength I swear! Had a lovely dinner with three friends and Mother...I made an excellent Lobster Bisque, with cheese biscuits....and of course a very mind-altering egg nog with a selection of cookies I made. Not my traditional din-din, but it was pretty good tasting. Im off to have another cup of nog!
DeleteXOXO
