SEA OF TRANQUILITY

I was going to share these last weeks, after my birthday weekend. But thought they might be better to share today, as we could all use a major break from the news and election and its results. The beach has always been my happy place, the best locale on the planet for me. Nothing like the sound, smell and sight of the seaside. As soon as we hit the beach last week, no, not in swimwear, I know disappointed no shot of that right? But just to take a walk, I could feel the being centered starting and stress melt away. On a beach, for me anyhow. nothing else matters, and the rest of the world is shut off. Just imagine the lucky souls living in the above house, with these views, and sounds daily. I will not view or watch any news today, at least till tonight. I was originally going to hang out a bit at Dem headquarters with staff and volunteers who helped with national, state, and local race elections work that was done, and I met some nice people, and a few cuties, but have now ditched that plan. I will meet my good friend and sister Mame after dinner, at a bar we hang in for a drink or two for a few results then come home and either go right to bed or watch some BBC comedies....and await the results, which I suspect will take days. Why worry and fret till they come in? it's out of my control. My anxiety and blood pressure will just go up. I must remember I did all I could, helping with various volunteering efforts, and placed my all-important vote.

But still, what I wouldn't give to be on this beach right now, awaiting the results to finish. And Rehoboth Beach yet no less, how ironic. That is a good sign, I hope.

Awwwww, isn't this better?

  1. I agree - getting a taste of sea air is such a tonic for the senses, and the mood...

Not sure I'd be comfortable that close to the sea when the winter storms kick in, mind! Jx

  3. For me, the Sea of Tranquility is where Neil Armstrong landed his eagle on the moon, but I can appreciate how your beach drains away stress. I feel the same way about swimming in a cold, freshwater lake. Not today though, as it's snowing here!

  14. A lot of us are thinking about running away from home this morning. A long walk on the beach, like four years.

  15. I feel this way about Stone Harbor, NJ. It is my most beloved spot. Once I win that lottery, I'm there. Unfortunately, I am stuck in Ohio for the moment. Such a dreadful place. I just cannot believe this outcome. I don't think people realize how bad it is going to be. Not only for all the things Trump has said he will do away with, etc., but also b/c of his vindictive nature. He will go after all those things and people he believe have wronged him. I am at such a loss. What a disgusting country we have become.

    1. I agree, and knowing some with first-hand knowledge of him, they too said he will indeed be vindictive. This country best grid it's loins for sure. It has no idea what about to it hit.

And I like your dream, that mine too! Stone Harbor is beautiful.

  17. Those helped settle a teensy sliver of calm. I cannot express how sorely disappointed I am in the voters of this country who preferred to fill the House and Senate with hate and return a convicted felon tot he oval.

He and his magas will indulge themselves for the next four years and then self destruct and sadly drag the USA down with them :(
Thank the heavens I live in California where magas and their ilk are anathema.
The blue states should band together and resist the magas at every turn.

  23. I'm truly sorry for your loss, Maddie! I was shocked and nauseated to see Pennsylvania go red, even more so that El Crapitain has won the presidency again... maybe Americans have to lose their democracy completely to wake up and smell the coffefe.

  25. I wish that is where I was at this moment. Beautiful pictures.

I think this loss is going to splinter the Democratic party. Insight is a problem when you are in a groupthink situation, so the Democrats may have a lot of trouble seeing what went wrong. But to start Biden should have been legitimately challenged in primaries if he chose to run again, and his deficiencies likely would have become apparent and there would be less sense of coverup. Second, the coup that gave the nomination to Harris avoided any pretense of a democratic process, and an open convention would have been better. Third, Harris herself was a terrible candidate, who seemed unable to articulate her vision of the future, and spent all energy trying to convince the electorate that Trump is so bad that anyone would be better. Many of us who agree in the unsuitablility of Trump were unconvinced she might be better. And fourth, the Democratic Party thinks of itself as the party of the working man but has left the working man in the dust as it has become the party of the upper middle class college grad and focused on the issues that concern him or her-- many in the traditional Dem base are far more worried about feeding their families than green energy, LBGTQ issues, or raises for the teachers at failing schools where their kids aren't learning to read.

    1. All I know is the Dems better get their act together. Ever since the Biden "decline" and stepping down to rushing Kamala in, it gave hope, but I still had a sense of doom. She needed her own message and much further distance from Biden.

  26. I love these pictures! No wonder you had such a good weekend. I would rather be their today too.

What I have not seen from Dems or in Harris' speech today was any REAL self-reflection on what went wrong. I was also very shocked, that she didn't say anything to her crowd last night, leaving her supporters hanging. That bothered me, and I side I saw I didn't like. They need to say OUT LOUD, they got the border wrong. They need to admit their energy and spending policy spiked inflation more than they thought it would. They need to say it's a bad idea to fund both sides in two wars. Finally, they need to concede that coordinating with Blue Cities to stop reporting their crime numbers to the FBI and try to claim crime is down, was a losing strategy versus actually reducing crime. When they can say this out loud, they will take the first step in fixing the Democratic Party. If now, they can ever regain power....now that trump and the GOP have everything, lord know what will happen. Yet again, he escapes EVERYTHING.

    1. While Hillary didn't address her concession till the next day also, she at least did come out to those in the room and thank them and said she deliver a speech the next day. I do think Harris should have at least come out to the ones physically at her event and said thank you, go home and I have a speech tomorrow. I understand the music just went off and people were left hanging.

  27. It looks like the only blue were going to get is the sea from your lovely post.As much red as I saw at the bottom of the TV screen yesterday & today, it really proves one glaring fact.

That most American's do not care for Dem policies overall. Talk about a blue wave coming to a drip and the Sea of Red flooding. Im still in shock.

  28. That is about the only blue where getting this election season...you lovely photos!!!

The Republics electoral map is so Red... Stevie Wander could see it. Trump swept the mail in ballots, battle and border states so quick Harris started writing her lose speech by dinner. When a map is that red or blue it is the predictable margins for where the house is going to end up.... and it will be RED.
