MUSIC NOTES

I must say...these weekends of hibernation have been wonderful, and I'm enjoying this while it last. The only problem is....those darn Mondays come way to fast. Yesterday found me sucked into a Rosemary and Thyme marathon for most of the day...at least till the Grammy red carpet started. Other then that, I didn't watch any of it, but before bed, I did see a video of Kesha's moving performance. I don't usually care for awards shows....although last year it was fun to watch plucky Adele take the award from BeyoncĂ©, who I'm sure is still pissing about it. No,I watch for the fashion and then ditch the show. After all,I was off to watch the second season premiere of Victoria on PBS. I actually like the Grammy's because it's where one can, and should actually take fashion over the top and to the limits and have fun. One can wear things here that may look out of place at other award shows I feel. One has the room to get away with more here. My favorites from the red carpet.
Mother Monster always knows how to make an entrance!

A unexpected choice for Pink. By far my favorite, and I'm not saying that just because she's from Doylestown. It looked fun, whimsical, but  music edgy and music appropriate, the color was her..and she let the dress speak..simple hair, no jewelry.

Cardi B rocked this number. Elegant but out of the box and couture looking.

Ten point upgrade to Kelly Clarkson from her disaster on New Years Eve. Did she take our advice and get a gay stylist? Either way it was much more the star she should like and did. She looked incredible.

Only the legendary Cyndi Lauper could pull this off and did. So her.

I have only recently heard of the Imagine Dragons....but love their group style.

India Arie looked great in the black and white look....I'm ready to wear it to work one day.

Not sure where she has been, but Ashanti looked stunning in the gold dress. Maybe demure for the Grammy's... but no denying she looked fabulous and tasteful.

So far the awards season has been spectacular and for the most part tastefully done. Has everyone finally come to their senses???

  2. Thanks as I missed the Red Carpet. The show starts so early here as usual I was late turning it on and they were already on awards. Like you I only enjoy the Red Carpet. Oh BTW, I agree with Bob.

  3. Watched a bit of the show - - saw Pink's performance and then shut it all down. The Grammy's have become too....I don't know - Loud? I hate songs where I can't understand a fucking lyric...how do you connect with the song if you can't understand the words?
    I'll stick with my Tony's, Emmy's, Globes, and Oscar's. :-)
    Hugs!!!

  4. I haven't watched an awards show in years. I used to tune in to Fashion Police just to hear the snark. I now have no where to go for fashion bitching since FP is no longer with us.

I think Pink looks like Big Bird in drag, but I like it.

    1. Lol, this made me laugh so hard, "big bird in drag". Sorry to disagree with you Maddie but I had the same thoughts as Deedles, when I first saw the picture I thought Pink had skinned a Muppet and was wearing its fur.

    2. When I first saw it, I thought Muppets also...but for some reason I loved it on her and this was the perfect venue in which to wear the outlandish.

@ Deedles I cant get through award shows either. I too have not seen an entire one in years.

  5. At first, I didn't know what I though of Pink. But a second glance, she pulled it off and seemed to fit her personality...and like you said the Grammys is one awards show to go over the top and more outlandish. I adored Gaga and Carrie's looks. No humdrum there. Other than that didn't watch.

  7. I yoo loved Pinks dress....it was memorable and fun. Still didn't care for Kelly Clarksons dress through. An improvement, but looked a bit matronily for the Grammys.

    1. ANYTHING had to be better than New Years Eve...I'm still recovering for that fiasco.

  8. I was very happy to hear about all the Philadelphia classical musicians who won Grammys!!!!!! As far as fashion, Lady Gaga ruled the red carpet.

  9. See, I loved Pink also. She is one of the few who could pull that. But Lana Del Rey cleaned the house with best dressed.

  10. Pink can pull off anything.....she's Pink! I would probably despise that dress on anyone else.

  12. Another vote for Cyndi, and I agree, it would have only worked for her.

  13. I'm not a fashion expert but I do miss Fashion Police. Thanks for sharing these standouts as I totally missed the Red Carpet.

Lady Gaga doesn't look comfortable. Instead of Poker face, she giving us constipation face. Eat more fiber! Fetch her some prune juice and yogurt stat!

Pink. Who else can pull off wearing shaved Muppet pubic hair?

Cardi B is certainly making a risqué fashion choice. Most men wouldn't wear their crusty, stiff splooge towels out in public.

Yes, Kelly Clarkson! The gold lace and trim on black and fringed cape look good on her. She's only missing the little black hat to complete her matador look. Now she looks ready to run with the bulls...As opposed to New Year's Eve when she looked like she just ate a whole bull...

Cyndi Lauper! So colorful! It's like she went drinking with a rainbow and it threw up all over her.

I love Imagine Dragons! The matching beards, the complimentary styles. They look like a group of fashion forward Amish! I haven't seen a group of pasty, white people dress and look so similar since that time I stumbled into that polygamous cult of sister wives in Southern Utah. Is this a promo for a new reality series, Brother Husbands?

Thank you, India Arie. I've always wondered what a patchwork quilt made by a colorblind person would look like. And now I know.

And finally, thank you, Ashanti, for showing us that Taco Salad Bowls are not just festive and delicious, they're also fashionable! You are the Yo quiero Taco Belle of the Ball!
