THINK PINK

I must admit, it was swell having all summer off, but what a hell of a way to have it all off. Since being back to work, I already have a million things in the new store I want to accomplish. There have already been dents made, but last week was one of the first chances to get creative. Every year the company I work for supports many charities. October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month is one of the biggest we give to. All month I will feel like Pinky Benson above...minus the rabbit. I mean who wouldn't want to wear a pink updo everyday??? Last year the company as a whole raised about 22 million for cancer research. Our program is called Give Pink, Get More. What that means really is  that's customers can enroll in the program by charging a $15 fee on their Bloomingdale’s Credit Card and 100% of which will fund research, support and awareness programs at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, The Carey Foundation and the Marisa Acocella Marchetto Foundation.  In addition we have many events, such as cocktail parties, a Pink Yoga Class and a Day of Pink Beauty planned and also sell a handful of items where the whole percentage also goes to these intuitions, one of which is a beautiful Swell bottle with art designed by artist Donald Robertson title Karma in Bloom.

The same art was also sent to all stores to display on big focal walls, as well our shopping bags will feature the same art. But as a visual team we were also asked to support the Pink Month with some moments around the store and this is what I was busy with last week.
Yes, you'd be correct to think I used some of the un-used pink parasols from the wall and cut them up and made them into a backless dress!!!!!!

And on our main floor at the entrance was a more simple display.

Our one of two windows....
That was my whole week just about. The window was almost two days in itself. This week will find me tied up with a huge Chanel event. But remember, many of us have had family and friends suffer or worst, lose their life to this awful disease. If you get the chance to give to a charity, do volunteer work, or do one of many walks that will take place, ...please do. No matter the ta-ta's,
no matter how big or how small, let's save them all!

  1. I am very lucky to report no cancer in my large jahoobies ever. every year the girls get "cleaned & pressed" to make sure no nasty cancer has found a home there.

  3. Ditto what Debra said. Very beautiful indeed. Now, I need to ask Anne Marie if boobs have to be large to call them jahoobies? Inquiring breastesses want to know! Mine are sitting on their tummy shelf awaiting the answer.
    Silliness aside, good work Mistress.

  14. That parasol dress is ingenious. No wonder they brought you back, and why did they ever let you go in the first place?

  20. Fabulous! High score on the unconventional materials challenge, it might be a bit stiff to wear. Breast cancer was listed as a secondary cause of death on my mother's death certificate.

  21. That's wonderful! I have lost friends and relatives to this disease - and have friends who are survivors. I also had a colleague in the theatre who died of breast cancer. He was - yes, HE - was so embarrassed by this diagnosis that he dropped out of life long before the disease took it.
    Think Pink!!!!!!!!
