GONE ISN'T ALWAYS GOODBYE

Hello & Buh-Bye Everyone!
It's important to take time off, don't you agree? Well, here I go again.... it's summer, and as a reader of this blog you'll know this time of year, I'm hit or miss... so I'm off to somewhere up North. This time, I'm off with the Professor for a Newport trip, you know, to see if the Mistress wants to purchase a Newport mansion!!!! Has anyone been there before? It's nice to get a change of pace... and
we all need a change of pace, both physically and mentally. I can also finally use my new carry on for the car trip up North......

The bag is a bit campy for Newport, but do I care?????......

The way I see it, the rest is... white shorts, grey chambray shirt, prep belt and metal watch...the hairy legs are extra.

And just what is so important about my car carry on? What is in it exactly......

well....... Hendrick's,  of course for when I get parched, with a nice cut-glass old fashioned, tissues, a Cuban... just in case,  cell phone, sunscreen, sunglasses, wallet and a little black box for....well...one never knows where the mood might strike!!!!!! It's like my Karen Walker survival handbag!!!!!!

So I'll be away for a few, time to hit the road....

I'll be back at the Casa and  Blog-Land with more travel photos to share soon when I get back....

So long.....

And farewell, see ya soon.....

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

A long Memorial Day Weekend here in the U.S!!!! Any great plans for this weekend anyone?  I'm so glad it's here finally, something always feel good about Memorial Day, and not because men will be nearly naked all season, or because I'll be gone like every other week again on vacations. It just feels fresh, new and the warm sun feels great. Not to mention my social scene swirls much faster. I love Lana DelRey, but no Summertime Sadness till the fat lady sings.

At the Casa we have up our little flags in place to honor those all who have sacrificed so much for this country. Of course the other thing I enjoy is.....

The return of my white denim!!!! I love me some white denim, but it has to fit tight, not loose. Later today the boys will all be in tees and tanks, and the white denim will prevail in the end. These gems landed me my Princeton Professor last summer!!!!!! In the meantime, those little flags up there, were given to me by my good friend the Dame Courtney, who just may make an appearance one day. She too is technological challenged like myself, the dear. We really must stop these afternoon Pimm's cock-a-tails honey!!! Well, the Dame is fond of a good holiday decoration, after all, it is Decoration Day as they used to say, so lets see what she is up to shall we....

yes, as one can see, she is fond of putting just a few things out for the holiday....

And everything you see here is most likely very old and all vintage. I have always enjoyed when she puts out this big stand of flags......

sparklers anyone??? Just light them AWAY form my cock-a-tail please!

Gotta love her for her patriotic attitude. When she catches a draft in the parlor she even has a flag to wrap up in!!!!! Now that's love for your country......

Thanks to the Dame for opening her door to us again, but is her door really ever closed?!?!?

Well...I'm on my way soon to a picnic with some good friends over by New Hope for a good old fashioned fried chicken recipe of theirs with all the fixings and of course, some cock-a-tails! Any plans for you all?

.
Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend Darlings
*PEACE* !!!

A DAY OF FASHION....CHARLES JAMES AT THE MET

It has been a busy time at work of late, and last week had many things go awry, but with my quiet time now setting in, finally- I decided a field trip was in order last week, so on our quiet day my team and I headed into NYC to see the incredible Charles James:Beyond Fashion exhibit at the Met. I have always loved his designs, and I wish women still dressed like this today at the Oscars, and other events. My hat is off to Anna Wintour who had an incredible Met Ball and used the exhibit as the theme. The ball gowns that showed up were so breathtaking, upstaging Oscar fashion any year.

YES! A dress made entirely of roses

It is in many ways very fitting that Charles James: Beyond Fashion is the inaugural exhibition at the newly renamed Anna Wintour Costume Center. Both James and Wintour share a British background and their bold, historic fashion careers that came to fruition in the United States, and are both unparalleled precisionist in their crafts. This marks my fourth fashion exhibition at the Met, all of which have been stunning and a privilege to see. This one was right behind the gorgeous Alexander McQueen exhibit to me, with a lot of my favorite pieces included in the collection.

James once said “my dresses help women discover figures they didn’t know they had,” a statement both reflective of James’ background studying architectural design and the array of highly sculptural ball gowns on display, transforming The Met into a mid-twentieth century high society affair. I tried to escape wearing one to no avail!!!! James was immaculate in his work, known to spend weeks perfecting a single sleeve and shredding dresses that didn’t meet his highest standards.

Ever the visionary, James is attributed for inventing the infinity scarf and the wrap dress, the latter which he designed for the woman on the go, made to slip into between parties and named the “taxi dress.” James debuted the A-line coat a decade before Yves Saint Laurent walked trapeze silhouettes down the runway. He was the first to use spiral draping and zippers as a design element and embellishment, and introduced an elegant model of down jacket in white satin, described by Salvador Dalías as “soft sculpture.” Praised by Christian Dior as “the greatest talent of my generation,” and by Cristóbal Balenciaga as “the only one in the world who has raised dressmaking from an applied art to a pure art,” James was revered by his fashion peers and a devoted clientele including Virginia Woolf, Elizabeth Arden, and Princess Grace of Monaco. A homage, a long time in the making, Charles James: Beyond Fashion introduces a man well known through his legacy to a whole new generation of admirers. The exhibition is on view now through August 10th. If your in New York and are a fashionista check this out, you won't be disappointed. And you know I just had to get one of the book as a gift for someone who couldn't make it.

And I'm hear to tell ya after looking at such beauty and detail, as I tend to really study and take everything in, I was mentally exhausted after the exhibit,  so it was off to a place I know I was dying to try, and being a huge Stephen Starr whore....Café Storico!! Stephen most have at least 25 places to dine in Philadelphia, so I knew he opened the  Café Storicio and wanted to try it, and it didn't disappoint.

As one new kids on the New York block still, this cheery little cafe is hidden away in the New York Historical Society (which, in itself, is one of New York's best-kept secrets).  The lemon-and-white color  scheme is refreshingly different from anything else in the city, but it's the dinner-plate decor that really made me chuckle. It's glamorous and yet whimsical at the same time. May be my favorite new place to eat in Manhattan. And judging by the swarms of diners walking in, it's the new favorite of many Upper West Siders. While waiting for our table I enjoyed two Bloody Mary's, which I loved their take on......

followed by an Italian fest......

Of course the waiters all wear suspenders which I find a man sexy in!!!! Café Storico is  located at 170 Central Park West.

TRANSFORMATIONS-BIANCA DEL RIO

two of the craziest bitches- Gosh I love them

It's only been five days since Bianca Del Rio became the first New York drag queen to snatch the "RuPaul's Drag Race" crown -- and James St. James clearly wasted no time, having already managed to book her for his web series, Transformations.  In this latest installment of the former club kid's "Transformations" series, which showcases queens transforming St.James into their own drag style, and here Bianca Del Rio helps St. James pull off the iconic Bianca look. This is actually one of my favorite features in the "Transformations" series so far, as the pair obviously share a history with one another and genuinely enjoy one another's company throughout the entire segment. If your a fan of the ever fabulous Bianca like I, you will find her wig trick clever as hell, and the reason she went on Drag Race ever funnier.  As Lady Bunny is my favorite drag queen, I loved the dish on her.

I also thought Bianca does a mean impression of Bun-Bun. If blindfolded I would have sworn Bunny was in my living room. Enjoy!!

IF JESUS WERE A DRAG QUEEN.........

FROM THE CANDY SHOP

This week's Eye Candy may surprise some, but my friends are always shocked by me for having no defining man type that wets my appetite. So this tasty morsel.....

I have always thought Jared Leto floated my boat, with that slim build, and those eyes and eyelashes, which get me every time. His long hair isn’t a new addition to his always stylish look, I don't  generally enjoy long hair, but on him, it works. Not only is he a great actor, but he seems to be just an overall great guy. I mean, he invited his mom as his date to the Oscars. Besides that presh reason to love him, he often dedicates a lot of his time to giving back. Whether he is raising money after devastating storms, using his voice to stop fracking, supporting marriage equality, or urging people to get out and vote, he definitely lands on my menu for my Candy Shop. And between you and I, I get the feeling he may be a freak in the sheets. And any man posing with elephants in cool in my book .Some of my favorite shots.....
