The British Invaded

Well this was to be my ensemble above to wear to the flower show . Would that not be a show stop? The Lad talked me out of it, said it may upsurge the displays. And then there was the whole car issue. Anyway we both took personal days to attend the show and to see the welcome sign of spring. You just know spring is around the corner when the flower shows pop up, and this year it was the British Invasion. The Philadelphia Flower Show was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This year’s theme was “Brilliant!” with exhibits focusing on the landscapes, culture and beauty of Great Britain. The event, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, offers a variety of exhibits that honored  all things British, including a digitally enhanced rendition of Big Ben, cottage gardens, a floral take on the crown jewels and a greened-up version of the royal gates. I thought is was all creatively done and it has officially got me in the mood to wipe off the cob webs of winter.........

It was nice to see someones else's crown jewels on display for a change......

I was in love with this table setting. How neat would those chairs be at a dinner? Two on a bench. What a great way to have a dinner party/mixer party!

How cool is this card catalog? This would be soo cool to do in a sun room.

I thought the British theme was much better than the Parisian one they did the year before. Although I was looking to see if there would be a homage to James Bond, you know, like Daniel Craig laying naked in a bed of roses, but, alas, you can't have everything. It was entertaining enough to just watch all the other queens there get excited. Tootles.

  3. Wow, looks like a great show! I like the Big Ben display in particular. A bit heavy on the Royalty theme but perhaps that's more of a novelty to you Yanks than to us Canucks.

  8. Gorgeous pictures.
And tell me you put on the crown and paraded round the room to the amazement of the throngs gathered?

Those benches would be awesome for Thanksgiving. All you have to do is turn 90 degrees and lie down when the turkey coma hits.

  12. Daniel Craig in a bed of roses!?! You sure do know how to wet a whistle. Looks like a great show, but Philly usually does.
