Alyssa Edwards who hails from Mesquite, TX , is known as the Vanessa Williams of drag, after a scandal forced her to relinquish a major pageant title. But don't get it twisted - this trained dancer is here to show America she's still got what it takes to win. She is known on the drag circuit as a fierce competitor, extremely flawless, and puts on a great show. Not to mention tough as nails. And lets not even discuss the fabulous wardrobe. Now I have received several emails about why she was stripped on her huge crown.....so I ask a drag friend on the drag vine who asked, a queen who asked her source and this is the tea I got .... Back in 2010 the epic Alyssa Edwards was dethroned as the winner of Miss Gay America after missing multiple club and other public appearances as the winner without notice at all to club promoters or the Gay Miss America organizers. Therefore by default, and the by-laws, they gift the first runner-up ,who just so happened to be Coco Montrese, her crown. The real gag is Alyssa Edwards had been dethroned once before for similar reasons from another competition before this happened. Alyssa and Coco were close friends before the 2010 Miss America travesty. It is rumored Coco played a role in snitching to Gay Miss America where Alyssa actually was while she was missing appearances. Again, you ain’t hear this from me gurls! But that’s what I heard!!!!! No matter, Alyssa still seems fierce and and has moved on. Keep that chin up girl....ahhhhh, yeah, there isn't really a chin is there?

ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing. I thought it must be juicy. Alyssa seems a bit bitchy, but she is quite stunning. Coco meanwhile seems to not help by stirring the bee hive.

ReplyDeleteI will say Alysaa is very stunning and serves great fish, but I don't get into the pagent queens. One a sidenote Jinkx was robbed, I feel like the judges are barely acknowledging her presence! Why? She's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm really afraid the judges are going to look over her talent in favor of the more obnoxious and loud contestants. The problem is that they don't always get her style of drag--like pandora or tammie brown--and unfairly have a bias towards fish and fashion instead of camp and comedy. She's by far the most talented, humble, and graceful.
Girl I was at the Miss Gay America Pageant, and I will say Alyssa was increible, beating up 50 other queens. Shame what happened, but she did win it first!

ReplyDeleteI feel like if the owners took away her crown and title then it must have been necessary, and if she and coco were really friends, then she should have been happy that the crown was at least passed to her friend. Let's not get it twisted. According to the pageant OWNERS she did not do what she was suppose to do. It's just like any job, when you can't, won't or don't do it, they replace your ass.

ReplyDeleteNot at all, last Anonymous. I can't stand either one (and personally, if I was RuPaul, I would have sent both home) but Alyssa has been in the bottom too many times, has lip synced for her life too many times, and cannot perform during challenges. She's a mess, it was time.

I think she's sweet, but if I had to put up with that bitch coco, who looks like the grandma of the show, my bitchy side would come out too. That Mamaw was constantly bringing up shit then acting like she was innocent. But she has the victim role played out right! If coco didn't get the attention she wanted, then everyone must be against her, it pisses me off with her oppressed attitude. I really wanted it to come down tonalyssa and Alaska, I love Alaska too!

ReplyDeleteI like Alyssa. Sad to see her leave the show. She was a great entertainer and her appearance is lovely. More than that? She had me cracking up in every episode. LOL Coco is a lovely queen as well but she was always digging up the drama and you could tell that Alyssa just wanted to leave it alone. Editing exists but I have a feeling that most of the issue revolve around Coco being unable to let things go. @ANON march 17@ 158p: Are we e-thugging because the comment was meanspirited and uncalled for? ReplyDeleteI feel like when I first started watching the show and was really ignorant to it, my first thought was definitely "wow alyssa looks different out of drag." But as I watched more, I fell in love with Alyssa's personality more and more. Don't know why everyone gives her such a hard time, especially after watching Untucked where her dad reached out. It was really touching, and we've learned so much more about her than "that buck-toothed so-and-so". Shes also Hilarious, for those that refuse to notice.
